Has anyone actually got an 'ER' (retirement) visa extension? can you give details about what was specifically required (paperwork?), where you went (to get it done), and the associated costs? Please indicate what kind of visa you started with and if it was changed to the new designation (specifically, can you change from a tourist visa to a ER visa? this would be nice as one could get an 'online' visa ahead of travel, not have to futz with the bozo's at the airport getting the E visa at arrival) is there any reason to get one (new) kind of extension over another? (ease of qualifying, cost etc). any other 1st hand knowledge about the new requirements would be appreciated (ex: are the ER visa's multiple entry?).

side question: I read somewhere (can't find link right now), that if one stays more than 182 days in Cambodia, then one has to pay income taxes to cambo 'no matter where the money was earned'. Has anyone run into this issue? I suspect not based on the fact that I can't figure how the cambo gov't would ever find out about income generated outside of the country, no way they've got the connections to attain that kind of information.

cheers

I just got mine extension of stay visa last week at Lucky Lucky Motors. Previous 9 years I have been getting EB visa this time I got ER visa. No documentation of any kind was needed, but I'm 67yo, just some pictures. The reason I asked for the ER was because I didn't want or need a work permit also didn't want to pay any taxes on income.
The local police make the rounds to my home every year to check papers it could be possible that they would want to see income documentation when they see I now have ER.

No, you cannot transfer from a T-type visa to an ER EOS... You need to have an E-type visa to apply for an E-type EOS.

Same cost of an EB EOS, 12 mths appx $270-300.

Only 6 & 12 mth EOS's are multi- entry.

Re tax, technically what you posted is true according to the law, but not enforced.
Good info PSD, thanks.cheers

Hello! I am considering moving to Cambodia after staying in Thailand for a while and have been looking at Visas. How are things regarding the EB Visa these days. Have they started to enforce the new requirements about work permits or is it still pretty relaxed?

Welcome aboard.

Literally nothing has changed in 8+ years.

Get regular visa at airport for $35 (Ok, that price has changed in 8 years).

Go to Lucky Lucky and pay about $290 for 12 additional months.

Done.

That sounds very sweet, thank you Gen. Mackevili ;) Where can I find this Lucky Lucky place though? Is it this motorbike rental shop I find on google? :s

290$ for a 12 months sounds most excellent. I've been paying a bit more than half that price for a three month visa here in Thailand! :o

Thanks for the information I am in the UK at the moment and I got some vague information about the changes. It seems basically a small price hike on the visa cost but no major dramas.

If you enter with a 30 day tourist visa and then extend for 30 days, and then leave the country. How soon can you come back into Cambodia and get a new 30 days visa?
