Cambodian Immigration/Visa Information

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

You take it too serious. Check in will not check for an expired visa or exit visa or whatever. They just make sure, they don't have to pay to get you back when you are not allowed to enter the next country because of visa issues. If you have trouble with exiting the country, it means worst case that you miss your flight, and that's not a problem of the airline
Driving on Cambodian roads is just like playing a classic arcade top scroller. The only difference is a force feedback controller, the limitation to only one life and the inability to restart, once Game Over

@BaltimoreJack in my experience it depends on the check-in staff, I always just hand over both passports, the main thing they're concerned about is that the Traveller has the right to enter the country they are travelling to. Showing Cambodian passport also means that the Traveller gets their airport tax refunded (appx $7).

It is in case you have checked luggage. It means finding and unloading that specific bag, which means a delay for the flight which also can lead to extra expenses.

Good point, I missed that. However I have never seen anyone of the check in staff checking for expired/invalid visa for the country I am in

Apologies if this has been asked a million times. Is it okay to leave the country with a K visa on a passport that has not expired, but is 3 months off being expired, and a new passport? The trip is to the home country of the passport. And as I understand, on return you just need to show a birth cert to get a new K visa? The first part is more important. Thanks in advance. 8)

Yes, the K-type Visa is valid until the expiry date of the passport, therefore it is still valid to use for exit/entry until the expiry date, even if he has a new passport, he will need to show both passports at passport control. Upon return, apply for new K-type VOA, so ensure he has the necessary supporting documentation, Cambodian Birth Cert and old K-type Visa will be sufficient .

If I may go off topic for a second I would like to propose a small change to 2 users forum titles.

Notably Kammekor and PSD-Kiwi

Kammekor for his general knowledge pertaining to living here for a seriously long time and PSD-kiwi for his knowledge relating to anything to do with visa's and the immigration department.
Both have shown a willingness to help anyone no matter how many times particular question has been asked.

Expert Expat or something along those lines seems fitting

PSD_Kiwi also posts the same info many times over on multiple FB groups, usually containing the word "Home Top" or "There is no such thing as a working visa"!.
