After living in Thailand and here and from my experience Khmer are less arrogant. You can find nice people everywhere, but the "system" in Thailand treat you like a shit.

The States! should be number-- nah I'm just fkn witcha.
Wait--I though Hawaii, with all that Aloha sht and flowers around your neck when you came in would be all friendly.
To be honest, the chick who wrote this sounds like some European girl who had a great time in S.E. Asia and was unwittingly writing a sales pitch for post covid foreign tourism agencies.
A final thought-- When we think of friendly is that like *ah the dudes don't want to beat & rob me" or more like "the woMeN here are soo friendly!" ?

A study has found evidence that being an arrogant twat with no understanding of local language or culture and a general distain for the local population may result in being treated like an arrogant twat. Scientists all over the world are astounded by these findings.

A study* has found that Cambodian people are generally very tolerant of people who speak any Khmer at all, even a few words or phrases. I am blown away about how most Cambodians are open to a conversation in three languages - English, Khmer and sign language.John Bingham wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:57 am Breaking News

Or even French. One time a Khmer guy agreed to drive me from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh to practice his French. Lol. How do you say Disneyworld in Khmer ?

When the Covid19 incident happened with the western people holidaying by boat in Kampong Cham. Dozens of passengers have been held in quarantine on a Cambodian river cruise boat after a British woman tested positive for coronavirus.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 8:57 pm Do you think that the local attitude toward foreigners has changed since Covid ?
Just wondering if that's a factor.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... -boat.html
We, me and my partner we're visiting her family, and then proceeding on our road trip.
In the hotel restaurant the police came in and asked my partner why I was not wearing my mask, there was no other Khmer nor the police wearing masks, but I was told if I did not put on a mask I would be arrested. The hotel mainly catering for western tourists, had police officers sitting in the restaurant area on a daily basis looking out for any more tourists who may book into the hotel. The western tourists who had tested positive for Covid19 were in quarantine just around the corner.
In the end the situation was all too much for my friend the hotel owner, he decided it was better to close the hotel until a later date.
We had what you could call another eye opener, not too forget my partners home town is Kampong Cham, also we had lived together in the city for two years, and there are many people who know us. So, instead of sitting in the hotel restaurant with tense feelings all round, I rode too the market with my partner, it was her intention to buy some food from the cooked food stalls. It didn't work out has expected, I was sat on the motorcycle looking in my partners direction when all the commotion started, and it got heated very quickly, the stall holders would not sell food to us, but 5 of the stall holders we're going on how westerners were spreading the virus, then they started to throw hot food at my partner, she making an hastily retreat for the back seat of the moto.
Continuing on our travels we were refused hotel accommodation and food in some places. We called it a day shortly after, and headed back home in Phnom Penh.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

The cops, village chiefs, vaccine station personnel, market stall holders, hoteliers, the list seems endless.
Hollywood should make a movie about you, maybe Keanu Reeves or Matt Damon can play your part, Gene Hackman the part of the power crazed local police officer, does your missus look like Sandra Bullock?

With a name like Chad Sexington, maybe you should play the lead role. Or you could stand in for Dirk DigglerChad Sexington wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 10:16 amSeems like the whole world is out to get you Andy, or at least all of Cambodia.AndyKK wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 8:43 amWhen the Covid19 incident happened with the western people holidaying by boat in Kampong Cham. Re: Cambodia ranks fourth for friendliness towards foreign residents
Yes, Chad Sexington it may come across that way, but I think at the start of the Covid19 situation, we probably was in the wrong place at the wrong time. People we're looking for people to blame without a doubt, and I could add local people and the partners family were very clued up on the situation of the virus, also quite worried about the situation and that of their health. The hotel owner in Kampong Cham happens too be a old long friend of mine, and too this day his business still has not recovered. The pandemic has certainly had an effect world over. But when you mention hoteliers in general, I was turned away from 3 in Kompong Thom and also a number of restaurants. I don't know if you watched any of the news channels at the time around 11 March 2020. HE was broadcast live throughout the day, advising hotels that they did not have too accommodate foreigners, also added phone numbers on the screen for them to call if they got anyone awkward and needed assistance.Chad Sexington wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 10:16 amSeems like the whole world is out to get you Andy, or at least all of Cambodia.AndyKK wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 8:43 amWhen the Covid19 incident happened with the western people holidaying by boat in Kampong Cham. Has for making a movie, would you like to name it the "endless list", I notice you have good taste in actors, would you be starring in a premier role, what part would you like to take. Sandra Bullock maybe you could do drag, and no the missus doesn't look like her, she is your typical Khmer farm girl with a darker hint of colour, but a heart of gold.

I’m parked up in the sticks here and pretty much dodged the COVID prejudice fro the locals (though I did make a point of wearing a mask from the start and still am even though the majority of villagers here aren’t bothering now)AndyKK wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 11:38 amYes, Chad Sexington it may come across that way, but I think at the start of the Covid19 situation, we probably was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The only time I experienced any kind of prejudice was at the local market where the occasional person spotted me and did an about turn, but it’s been minimal and have have zero issues with business owners or officialdom.
As for a part for myself in the movie, maybe the power crazed police chiefs (Gene Hackman) ‘fat oaf of a brother in law/deputy’
