Cambodia ranks fourth for friendliness towards foreign residents

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Hmm, so Irishes are that stingy, and they also cheat their most famous brand to their export customers ?
I'll take your word for it, but i would tend to be suspicious for now at any Irish brand or label i guess...
It's true that soft drinks taste even sweeter in Indo, but at least their Heineken tastes like piss just as any Heineken anywhere else in the world.

Copy and paste by PPP journos, who should know that LOS is NOT Cambodia. Duh. :BangHead:

But I vote for "Cambodians are generally friendly to expats".
Oh I agree. Thais only smile because they want something. They became jaded towards us in the early 90s, or maybe before.

Cambodians are just genuinely friendly. I don’t honk that will ever change.
disagree, both countries have good and bad
So you disagree that the Cambodians are friendlier than Thais, going against the articles findings, or you disagree the Thais are two faced back stabbers?
both;
author doesn't even know which country is the "land of smiles"

Look you all can think Cambodia is better, friendlier, easer than thailand but its not
and thats my %.05
You forgot to add IMO, unless that is what %.05 means.

The Cambos must be laughing their asses off:

"Look at this... even the expats that have been here for a long time think we like them! Get this bit..""They've been through so much and still have a smile on their faces!" They don't know how right they are when they say 'A' smile on their 'FACES'

"Err, for a second there I thought they were on to us being 2-faced."

"Err, it's like, please help me... cunt. Maybe it's them who are 2-faced"

"Tay, they wouldn't be wearing those ones if they were. Asked one, 'what's with the mask, bong?' he goes 'blah blah covid' I says 'nah, the one under that, Halloween's a month away,'"

"Get him?"

"Get this. I keep smiling, as per training, give him a number 13c and he hands over 2 thousand and pringles, and goes 'you shouldn't call elders bong, youngster'
I says 'Yes sir, I am bong, you are pou'
He says, 'Thats right, very good'
I said 'What? My English?'
He didn't get it, of course, and goes 'no your respect'
So I says ' oh yeah, well I'm not supposed to say shit'

"Ha, and they call us stupid! Nice watch"

No, it's a higher strength so it doesn't go off in the tropics - where it is brewed.

I like Kilkenny.
The widget for carbonation is a pretty good touch with Kilkenny and Guiness.

Are you sure? The first thing that came into my head reading that ...

I'm from Dublin and I can assure you that there is fuck all chance you will get any free Guinness there. 8-)
My joke reference about the free drink was the Guinness (storehouse?) brewery in Dublin. Free Guinness after you’ve finished the tour. Or is my mind confused?

Yes I know you’ve paid for the tour but still. It’s FREE!

Well you can’t argue with Rough Guide. Pretty much the number guide book ever! (Apart from Lonely Planet but they went down hill in 2000).

From my experience, I have to really disagree. When visiting many Khmer businesses, especially during pandemic times, people often are unwelcoming and have poor attitudes. When renting an apartment, the landlords have been incredibly rude by what they say and how they say it. I have had multiple women scream and be very aggressive when looking at apartments. While in China, Thailand and Vietnam, people were very helpful and did whatever it took to help me when renting.

I honestly believe Vietnam is kinder to foreigners and certainly Thailand. People here have absolutely no filter or tactfulness when dealing with others it seems in many cases-they simply do not care and some really like to disrespect others. The customer service is also abysmal with shop owners caring about an immediate sale and a complete disregard for the customer.

I do not like to be negative too much, but these are just my observations. This has been heightened during the pandemic of course but this attitude and group of problems were always present.
