Booking flights with vpn

Post by diesel »

Hallo,

In the Summer me and my family wanna go back to cambodia for family visit and holiday.

We located in the netherlands, so we must fly from Amsterdam or Düsseldorf.

Ticket prices are high, 4 return tickets around 4000 euro.

Its logic That ticket fares are lower in other countrys. Especially not all countrys Has schoolholidays in juli, so the rates become higher.

Who has experience with booking tickets with vpn, and which country gave the best rates to fly Europ to Pp or BKK??

If you keep checking prices often then, VPN + browser incognito mode might help to bring the prices back down.

Usually flights to Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City are much cheaper then tickets all the way to Phnom Penh. Perhaps look flights there, stay a night or two, and buy separate tickets to Phnom Penh. Bus from HCMC is cheap but it's half day extra travelling in bus.

I'm pretty sure it's holiday season in all countries in Europe in July.

I was holding off posting about ticket prices because that's my usual shtick. Yet here i am and i been monitoring prices as well for summer. I have some wiggle room and shit is expensive. NYC - PP
it gets cheaper-- like 1500 RT but that is with a long layover of about 15 or 20 hours. that is crazy.
i have found NYC-PP for approx 1750 RT leaving early/mid june til end of August

super frustrating but no choice. I will not go because of prices but wish was less expensive. It was cheaper flying during covid. Obv the prices may go down and its early but not liking what i am seeing at the moment

I use either the kul route or bkk to nyc... The best in my opinion but qatar has that new line pnh to jfk.the price is stuck around 1050 though and i check often...

OP can try to pick mnl n then reconnect. Mnl has cheap tiks now but maybe not from your destination also philip aline suks in reliability. then again u traveling with 4 so less connections less drama...

Hmmm.. my u can try yo location to a big transit hub in EU n then connect from there.. kul and bkk will have the cheap connectors to pnh bc of air asia

Good luk

Have you considered Medellin, Colombia? Seriously!

Night life will be better. Food will be better, loose women aplenty, climate is WAY better and it's cheap for beer, transport and accommodation.

OK, you won't get 75c beers while sitting outside on a plastic chair, but I know you're a bit classier than that.

And.....it's a 7 hour journey including a 55m layover in Fort Lauderdale for a mere $584.

They only downside is the security concerns, but hey, you're from Brooklyn so you have big city street smarts.

If you haven't been, give it some thought.

1. You can use the Hopper app to let them 'track' the ticket prices for you, and then it will let you know what they predict the prices to be later, and suggest when to buy. They'll also alert you when it drops in price to go buy.

2. You could also check out https://en.tiket.com/ , which we've used in the past for extremely cheap regional flights. Because it's some Indonesian company, I think I had to send a scan of my passport and credit card, but that was several years ago, so maybe they're not as strict. So maybe look for flights to the big hubs like Bangkok, KL, then look for cheap regional flights on tiket.com

3. I didn't think the ol' VPN trick works as good as it used to for airline ticket prices, but who knows, worth a shot.

You forgot to mention the "snow" will be better.. lol.. I think you mentioned that area before. When was last time you went?

I will look into it .. thanks and i have never been before. I would have to buckle up if going for 2 months. the whole apartment thing etc

what neighborhood specifically you recommend in Medellin? i will look it up for sure. I would have to stay at a guest house for a few days while looking for apartment. do they do similar as in cambodia where you can find 2 month rentals?
i am all set up w/ Cambodia and know all the ins/outs.. going to Medellin would be like starting from scratch again.

Try this:
https://matrix.itasoftware.com/search

Do searches for all of the alternative airports that you can use.

I went this year. To be honest, it wasn't for me for a number of reasons: the entertainment section was too crowded and too loud and nobody seems to come out until after 9pm. None of that works for me. However, I seem to remember that's exactly the time you start thinking about going out, so this will suit you. And you like Pontoon, so Parque Lleras in El Poblado will suit you perfectly as it is loud and raucous. And there are lots of Americans there so you will meet kindred spirits. And a Hooters that you could probably get a 'takeaway' from, if you catch my drift.

El Pobado is the go-to area for first-timers in Medellin, there are lots of sources for information. Stay to the area to the west of Parque Lleras, ideally between the North/South running Carrera 43A and between Carrera 10 and 7D. This is a quieter area and on the way to the metro station so you will be well positioned. The streets are easy, it's essentially a grid system. Be warned, this area is very hilly, so before choosing accommodation, check out street view and see if you are perched on a 500ft climb at a 1/6 ratio.

As I said, the only serious downside is the safety aspect, but if you take sensible precautions and leave your bling at home, you should survive in one piece. How much sketchier can it be than New York?

If you are seriously going to consider it, and you should, I have a few resources I can share with you (not for publication on here!)
