Australian International Travel Ban Extended.
Re: Australian International Travel Ban Extended.
Denmark has virtually banned all outbound travel until Aug 31, except for some regional travel, e.g., Norway, Germany and Iceland. So Aussies shouldn't feel they're the only ones being kicked around and picked on. But I feel for ya. I got Aussie friends (and Danish) waiting to get back this way.

Where does the public health aspect come into it when Australians are stopped from leaving their own country, yet foreign international students can enter the country.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 4:07 pmI'm more than prepared to listen to people who have informed views, but when arguments become the same repeated vague conspiracy rhetoric invariably coming from the same voices, it's hard to give much credence to the opinion.Dunderhead wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 3:41 pm If you believe in the official narrative you have been conned. So, if it's not about public health what's it about then? And please offer some evidence to support your belief, as opposed to vague conspiracy nonsense.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Where did this conspiracy bit come from and get into the discussion ?

Australia and NZ are in a very difficult position now. They are 'more or less' Corona free now, and they will try to maintain that status. But the virus doesn't care about their status, and the virus is spreading across the world. Of course the virus will find a way in, as NZ showed today.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 3:29 pm I'm as frustrated as the next one but I understand there has to be international border controls implemented to avoid the risk of second, third, fourth....wave infections - sometimes we have got to consider others in the world other than ourselves and stop being so self centered oand selfish.
Having said that, I think Australian citizens should be able to travel abroad on the proviso they're not going to be welcomed back unless very stringent conditions are met such as negative health certificates, 14 day quarantines etc as some other countries allow.
This is the first time in over a decade I don't have a flight confirmation to somewhere sitting in my inbox and I'm pissed off at not even knowing when I might be able to travel again, but to suggest the Australian government is some kind of oppressive dictatorship is ridiculous.
Health certificates and quarantine will reduce spreading, but are no guarantees to remain virus free. Check the latest news about NZ not living by their own rules and importing the virus.
Even if they maintain all the borders closed, the virus will find a way in, simply because people won't comply with all the 'virus laws' forever. People can stay focused and scared only for so long, and after that they ill return to their normal lives. By then the virus will still be there.
They're probably betting there will be a vaccine soon, but what are the odds? And how long before 6 billion vaccines have been produced, distributed and injected.
Glad I'm no politician making the decisions.

Some members believe that every western democracy is an oppressive police state, far worse than North Korea. With Stasi hiding under very bed.Duncan wrote:Where did this conspiracy bit come from and get into the discussion ?
Hence, places like Cambodia, are much more democratic than all of Europe combined.
At least the perception I seem to see.

Re: Australian International Travel Ban Extended.
I just had beers last week with a friend of mine I haven't seen in years, his English girlfriend is now 5 months pregnant. He came over to Australia in March to see his family, he has been denied an exception to travel out of Australia but Chinese students are going to be let back into the country as soon as next month.atst wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 7:48 am There's a link on smart travelers website about travel restrictions in there you contact them tell them your story and they then give or I presume don't give you the ok.
They then contact the airport your departing from and let them know you can travel.
So to answer you, I'd say some government official

How is Germany “regional” to Denmark?ExPenhMan wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 4:24 pm Denmark has virtually banned all outbound travel until Aug 31, except for some regional travel, e.g., Norway, Germany and Iceland. Don’t listen to Chinese whispers.
Re: Australian International Travel Ban Extended.
Now if i say this is because chinese students bring money into the country when they pay for their studies, will this be again labeled as “conspiracy theory”? Not asking you specifically, but this is a good example of preferential treatment of paying customers. Of course, government would never do that! No no!xX.TROPA.Xx wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 9:30 pm I just had beers last week with a friend of mine I haven't seen in years, his English girlfriend is now 5 months pregnant. It's northern Europe, they share a border and the Danes like to shop there because everything's cheaper. A simple map check would have answered your question.whatwat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 9:31 pmHow is Germany “regional” to Denmark?ExPenhMan wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 4:24 pm Denmark has virtually banned all outbound travel until Aug 31, except for some regional travel, e.g., Norway, Germany and Iceland. If your friend is now living in England tell him to write to government stating this he should get the ok to go home to England, that's the easy part , now getting a flight that's hard, I've had the ok to go back to Cambodia since AprilxX.TROPA.Xx wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 9:30 pmI just had beers last week with a friend of mine I haven't seen in years, his English girlfriend is now 5 months pregnant.
