Re: Anyone been to Philippines. China. etc
I have many times in the 70's- the early 90'sI think perhaps a visit to India might be more interesting. Who's been there?
bicycled from Calcutta-Darjeeling-across Nepal-down to Delhi- up to Kashmir and Ladakh an than all the way south via Rajasthan, Bombay, Goa,, Kerala to Lands end before taking the ferry to Sri Lanka back in 82/83
Love the country an food

Re: Anyone been to Philippines. China. etc
3 years ago, I did a 6 week tour exploring the islands in the Visayas, Philippines. Fantastic trip.
Itinerary: Cebu City>Malapascua Island>Camotes Island>Panglao Island (Bohol)>Zamboangita (Negros)>Dumaguete (Negros)>Siquijor Island> Cebu City
Caveat: I don't like crowds and very touristy places so ended up excluding Boracay Island (which since closed down for several months last year due to environmental pollution) and also El Nido (Palawan) as I heard the latter was overrated. Wanted to go to Coron but never made it. Also, we stayed at Alona Beach at Panglao (Bohol) which was already too touristy for me.
A few select pics to wet your appetite..
Bounty Beach, Malapascua
Santiago Bay beach, Camotes
Alona Beach, Panglao
Chocolate Hills, Bohol
Zamboangita, Negros
Dumaguete, Negros
Paliton beach, Siquijor
Cambugahay falls, Siquijor
If you are like me and want to avoid the well trodden tourist path, then in the PI that means a lot of travel and time...the further and harder it is to get to place, the better and less developed it will generally be. There are over 7000 islands to explore.. I also recommend going with a partner as it's more enjoyable that way..

I highly recommend Taiwan, my favourite place in that region I've visited. Lovely island filled with lovely people.shnoukieBRO wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 12:25 am Thanks everyone. I was thinking of also Palawan and fitting in Taiwan.

Agreed! One drawback, though: lack of bum guns!

Yes I've been meaning to do Taiwan for many years. Some say it's the best. Can you say how it compares to Thailand or Cambodia?
Clutchcargo did u prefer Philippines over Thailand or Cambodia?
China looks like a future possible option but absolutely massive Country. The Language barrier is the biggest issue but with Google translate?
To all the rest, surely Palawan isn't that bad?? I saw images online and the limestone rocky shoreline and perfect beaches looks better than any Thai beach. Better than Railay beet.lol.
Cheers.
