airfare purchase algorithm
airfare purchase algorithm
@Doc67 been giving me great advice but was curious on anyone else's experiences about purchasing ticket and the algorithm that is used.
I just read about clearing the cookies on your computer might help or even using a different laptop. WIthin 1 hour the Korean Airlines flight went from 1250 to 1394 then back to 1265
my head was spinning lol. I even pretended to purchase a ticket to see what the seat selection was. lol
showed like 35ish amount of seats available on the departure flight from JFK
I am leaving NYC end of July so a little flexibility w/ dates but was curious on anyone else's experience

Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it
Re: airfare purchase algorithm
Try United.com, thats where i bought my ticket from PHN to Europe. You also try Kiwi.com and American, and Delta, the big 3 have alliances all over the world. Southwest is separate but they have good prices on excess luggage, let us know how it goes.BklynBoy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:31 pm @Doc67 been giving me great advice but was curious on anyone else's experiences about purchasing ticket and the algorithm that is used.

Try getting freeware to clean your cache, windows logs, reg. files etc '"CC Cleaner" is one of many that does this, clearing cookies and browse history is not enuf.
Change your device address with freeware, you don't need another computer "Technitium"is one of many apps and wrx on pc's not phones but device address can be chgd on phones if your phone is rooted.
I always liked the site "Skyscanner"since it shows you the cheapest days to fly.

Re: airfare purchase algorithm
I've asked this before but did really get a definitive answer, so I'll have another go.
Where can I find the load factor for a specific airline route, i.e. the average amounts of seats taken on that route.
Anyone have a magic website where you can find this information or is it a closely guarded secret?

Re: airfare purchase algorithm
That info isn't available for travelers. I believe even booking agents can't access that info, only the amount of tickets available in a certain booking class.Doc67 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 7:49 am I've asked this before but did really get a definitive answer, so I'll have another go.

Clearing cookies won't do much. Booking websites will log your IP address, your OS, the MAC address of your connection and put some cookies on your machine just for their convenience. Since your IP address and MAC address are unique they will know who you are, cookies or not. You can change your IP address by reconnecting through another internet connection or using a VPN and there are apps which can (temporarily) change / spoof the MAC address of your machine if you want.

@Kammekor: Clearing cookies won't do much."
Ägreed, so that's why I suggested using freeware like CC Cleaner and cleaning more than cookies i.e. cache, windows logs, registry etc ALONG with more freeware to chg MAC address, Technitium or another MAC changer, VPN was assumed but yes, no assumptions now; you need a VPN to readily change your IP address/location to fool any e commerce server at this level of query.
Every time you are done querying the server you have to scrub with CC cleaner all the apps on your machine and also scrub registry then restart, chg MAC address, restart again and fire up a different browser and make sure your VPN is enabled for restarts.

What about the Tor browser? Is that a better option?
Re: airfare purchase algorithm
@Pizzalover
"What about the Tor browser? Is that a better option?"
I m thinking TOR would not be helpful, my suggestions above should work for just querying prices which effectively allow the ecommerce sites you are shopping to see your machine as a new machine and having no history i.e. you have not seen the low price you saw previously. Point being each time you go in after doing the cleaning steps you get to query knowing what you know but the server does not know you know.
