I'd like to see a cheap flight from Phnom Penh to Vientiane (what Vietnam Airlines charges for their direct flight is ridiculous) and cheaper flights to a few cities in Vietnam (Hanoi and Da Nang in particular).
I'm a bit at a loss with regards to NEW routes they could offer that see enough demand. Direct flights to Indonesia, maybe?

I'd be interested to know the load factors on that.
There is a lot of political push for flights from India but this has been the case for a long time and airlines obviusly don't see it working. Otoh there are a lot of Indians in PP atm.
I would guess that one of the reasons for the huge number of daily flights BKK/DMK-PNH is pax using BKK as a transit. Any direct flight will need to compete with that. Most locals (and Indians) are highly price-sensitive. There aren't many western style "Get me there as quickly as possible I don'r care how much it costs" pax.

That's my concern as well. If they cannot fill a direct flight, it won't be cheaper or it simply won't happen at all.armchairlawyer wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:52 pmAlreadt have Jakarta.Alex wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 5:31 pm I'd like to see a cheap flight from Phnom Penh to Vientiane (what Vietnam Airlines charges for their direct flight is ridiculous) and cheaper flights to a few cities in Vietnam (Hanoi and Da Nang in particular).

I don't mind Bangkok stopovers, generally speaking, but when flying from Phnom Penh to Da Nang it really strikes me as silly to fly in the wrong direction first. It is (or has been) often the cheapest option though, and usually reasonably timed.

My next flight is with Air Asia , from PP to Australia ,, all the way, with a stopover of 12 hours in KL. Been told I have to check into Malaysia, then check in again for my continued flight. Apparently there is no such thing as a International transfer at the KL airport any more. This has also happened to me with the 3 other times I have gone through the KL airport.

I use the AirAsia route from Siem Reap-Don Mueang, Bangkok, frequently: the flight is often less than an hour and relatively inexpensive (I can usually find roundtrip tickets for less than 75 dollars, though I always include a carry-on returning home since I usually go to Bangkok just for shopping). However, I do question the logic of serving in-flight meals on a flight that doesn't even cross the 90 minute threshold. Makes me wonder if it's just another way to fleece last minute $$ out of the customer.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

I consider it a bit of fine print, since it doesn't actually say in bold (at least in the website I previous booked tickets through in June) that the meal will cost anything additional, they just give you the choices of meal, though I assume one must expect to pay extra since it is a "low cost carrier".phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 3:12 pmHaifongWangchuck wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 3:08 pm I use the AirAsia route from Siem Reap-Don Mueang, Bangkok, frequently: the flight is often less than an hour and relatively inexpensive (I can usually find roundtrip tickets for less than 75 dollars, though I always include a carry-on returning home since I usually go to Bangkok just for shopping). However, maybe it's just my experience, your mileage may vary.

I imagine in the future, all flights will be filtered through Siem Reap instead of Bangkok as they are going to try really hard to make Siem Reap a hub city akin to Da Nang, Bangkok (which currently has with its two airports the most SEA air traffic) or Kota Kinabalu, since the infrastructure now exists to support such a massive airline complex (I assume a lot of Chinese flights to the rest of SEA will now change in Siem Reap too).

Siem Reap has a lot more potential on the tourist side whereas PP will still be the destination for business travellers. Both have a good outlook IMHO. I also expect a lot of flights from PP-SR once the tourist numbers are back on track.HaifongWangchuck wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 3:20 pmI imagine in the future, all flights will be filtered through Siem Reap instead of Bangkok as they are going to try really hard to make Siem Reap a hub city akin to Da Nang, Bangkok (which currently has with its two airports the most SEA air traffic) or Kota Kinabalu, since the infrastructure now exists to support such a massive airline complex (I assume a lot of Chinese flights to the rest of SEA will now change in Siem Reap too).
