Re: Air Asia want their money back.
Count your lucky stars.
I am awaiting a refund from Thai Airways International, a high season full fare at that, and was initially told it would take up to 16 weeks!
The airline has now gone in to court supervised Bankruptcy and Thai (TG) is now advising that it may/may take six months or more!
Even worse, it is no longer a Thai State Owned Enterprise (SOE) and the government no longer has any liability in these matters!
And this is for their former frequent flier Gold Card members. What a crock of the proverbial.

Hope it's worth it to them, they've permanently destroyed their brand name by not honoring refunds. People don't forget stuff like that.Ot Mean Loi wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 1:31 pm Count your lucky stars.

AA can put whatever they like in their terms. It doesn't make it reasonable or enforceable.
You bought a ticket for a flight that was cancelled and are obviously due a refund under anyone's ideas of normality.
All the arsing around airlines are doing at the moment offering vouchers etc is fairly indicative of their finances, and your buyer protection through your bank is probably your only chance of getting repaid.

Philippines were still selling, in May London to Phnom Penh for late June. This was a week after they had cancelled a return flight of mine from Vancouver to PP and the end of June and all Manila to Phnom Penh flights thereafter.
I just spoke to Philippines yesterday and they offered me a voucher for my Vancouver to PP flight, valid for one year. They could not tell me it's value as I booked through a travel agent. It was biz class all the way, but very cheap @ $1800, and I expect when they subtract the one way fare I will probably end up owing them money. If I get a voucher anywhere near 50% I will be amazed. It might just buy me an economy return from PP to Manila if current prices are anything to go by.

I would not go booking any flights on air asia, regardless how attractive the fares are.

AirAsia’s wings may be clipped permanently
https://thethaiger.com/news/regional/ai ... ermanentlyMalaysia’s budget airline AirAsia could become the next casualty of the Covid19 pandemic, which has grounded fleets around the world and already forced the demise of NokScoot, another regional budget carrier. AirAsia’s auditor is warning that the airline’s future is in “significant doubt” due to the collapse in demand for air travel caused by the coronavirus and regional governments closing borders.
On Monday the company reported a record quarterly loss of 803 million ringgit (5.9 billion baht). Auditor Ernst & Young said Tuesday that “travel and border restrictions implemented by countries around the world have led to a significant fall in demand for air travel, which impacted the group’s financial performance and cash flows.”
In an unqualified audit opinion statement to the Kuala Lumpur stock exchange, the accountancy firm noted the “existence of material uncertainties that may cast significant doubt on the group’s and the company’s ability to continue as a going concern.”

Going to have to disagree with you there richard. Air Asia went from nothing to a powerhouse in the air travel business in just a few years and if they totally collapse to nothing, you cannot tell me that those that run it will sit on their ass and retire doing nothing. It's in their blood now and a new Air Asia will rise again. I will even put my money on / in it.

Re: Air Asia want their money back.
FWIW I've just noticed an AirAsia flight arriving from KL today at 12.45pm and departing again at 1.40pm. So that's progress, quarantines and $3000 deposits notwithstanding. I did't realise they had resumed service here, and tbh with all the restrictions I am surprised.
