Sounds weird Air Asia offerring a refund. If you have a flight to or from EU you are covered by EU regulation EU261. This applies whetehr the flight is deirect or has a stopover in Dubai for instance. teh airline has to provide you with food and drink, 1 phone call and hotel and tansfers if the delay i over 5 hours. they also have to pay you 600 euro compensation on a long haul flight. So if you are booked from bangkok to london via UAE and either leg is delayed or cancelled causing you to arrive in london 7 hours late you can claim. Most Arab airlines are not very good at this. they have to display your rights at checkin, which they dont, and they will deny compensation and make you fight for it. You first defenxe is to write to the Civil Aviation Authority at the european airport. I have just got 600 euro for a a canceled flight from one airline and I got a refund + 6000 euro from another 2 years ago. Applies regardless of your nationality. details here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_Co ... Regulation
