but i wonder why does Burma not get this front page news when they junta has been murdering civilians, burning and shelling village's, killing children, imprisoning many for trumped up charges for over 13 months?

is it cause they are not white?
Whenever the time comes for the people who run the US to start a fight w the PRC, coverage of the war in Burma will get pushed the same way. That region has been kept 'simmering on the back burner'.

The US is busy with it's own authoritarian problems and Russian assets.

Let's stop kidding ourselves. It's for these three reasons, and in this order.

1. They're not white.
2. They have little to no real power on the world stage
3. What little natural resources they have are of little concern to the rest of the world.

We all know it. Why pretend otherwise?

1. The Ukraine is culturally and geographically closer to western Europe.
2. A coup in SE Asia probably won't kick off WW3.
3. Myanmar doesn't have the power to seriously damage the global economy. (Psst: Russia does.)

The media pushes wars that are a direct threat to us more than wars which aren't. It's no more complicated than that.

Kony 2012 was a sketchy documentary that went viral long after Joseph Kony had disappeared. The whole story of the LRA had been reported for at least a decade in the "media" if by that you mean the traditional outlets in print and on TV. So it wasn't "pushed by the media" - it was questioned by many outlets. However by then hundreds of celebrities had lined up to save the babies.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
