Re: Yet another mass shooting in the Land of the Free gun ownership
To my US amigos:
Another terrible mass shooting and tragedy.I'm just don't think that you can put the blame on the religion, or the nationality, of this madman and murderer. As OMK points out so well, he could just as well have been a Christian extremist.(See the mass-shooting graph below.)
Any person of any religion can have mental health issues, anger issues, be violently homophobic etc.
AFAIK, all US citizens are equal under the constitution and this guy was a US citizen who had the constitutional right to bear arms according to the second amendment, and it's also reported that he even had his Florida gun license.
In fact, this guy was just like you guys : A US citizen, "born in the USA". BUT, one rotten apple doesn't mean that all Americans are rotten, and one wacko from Florida doesn't mean that everyone from Florida is borderline. No, that is just ignorant stereotyping. So, no, we can't say it's because he's American, or it's because he's from Florida, or it's because he's Muslim, that he did what he did.
Red is deaths by mass shooting in the US by non-Muslims. Blue is Muslim.

Of all the possible reasons and incidents that might be used to successfully curb gun rights in America, I think that a Islamic terrorist using America's freedoms (i.e. the freedom to own firearms) to attack Americans is about the least likely to fill that bill. Would be ironic though.

I'm really sick of this political correctness that is now literally contributing to the mass murder of minorities.

Orlando Nightclub Shooter Called 911 to Pledge Allegiance to ISIS: Sources
How can you, in all seriousness, not say this is linked to Islam? What would he have to do in your mind for it to be linked to Islam.
You PM-ed me about why I'm so anti-Islamic, and it's because there's this absolute willful ignorance of logic when it comes to Islam simply to defend the religion. If a white Christian called and said "I pledge allegiance to [Christian terror group]" and then attacked a group of people condemned in the Bible, literally everyone would say "well, it looks like Christianity has a problem". That's what sparked the enlightenment. People saying "hey, maybe the Catholics have an issue when they go after Galileo like this for his science." The man simply questioned the word of the church about his science and he was punished for it. Today, we're getting that way with people who question the teachings of Islam and link them to the actions of Muslims.
People are sacrificing centuries of logic and criticism of religion in the name of political correctness. We're regressing to the dark ages by not questioning religion, and the few who speak up are increasingly silenced through more and more stupid verbal attacks. Islam is an ideology. Ideologies are often wrong and they must, above all, be criticized for any failings. By treating it like race, you're going down a dangerous road that will lead to more violence. Races don't have failings, beliefs do.

Re: Yet another mass shooting in the Land of the Free gun ownership
How can it be possible in a supposedly civilized nation to buy a gun powerful enough to kill 50 people? Regardless of whether he is black, white, or green? Especially if it is true what they are saying on BBC; that the killer was known to the FBI.

I suggest you hold on a bit until we have more data. I think why your seeing the opposite view to yours are things like Timothy McVeigh and possibly even 9/11. Both attacks initially attributed to Muslims/ terrorists. We know about TM, right-wing nutter. 9/11? there is still debate in quite a few peoples minds.ot mien kampf wrote:Funny, I could have sworn that Islam says very homophobic things. Are you saying that the homophobia of Islam didn't inspire an attack on a gay club?Username Taken wrote:Does being Islamic automatically make him a terrorist?

That article is a bit of a wheeze. Muslims have less background checks after these things happen than Christians do? ! Lol.mammothboy2 wrote:http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/06/ca ... ub-gunman/
It is obvious that this young Afghan-American
sacrificed himself (and 50-plus more) to
ensure that TRUMP wins the Presidency.
I notice the author entirely forgets that if it was a right-wing Christian (anti-gay, anti-abortion etc) that the whole of the Christian community in America and world wide would not be blamed in the same way ( well, in America and other Christian countries and communities at least).
EDIT added in the same way

I pointed out that if he's Muslim, this is totally in line with his beliefs. Just as if he was an extremist Christian.

This is really crazy. I guess people of America were still shocked with the death of the former The Voice contestant who was shot dead at her concert one day before this mass-shooting.
I really don't care whether he is black, white or yellow, Muslim, Christian or Atheist, shooting innocent people dead is really wrong.
I still want to visit America one day in the future, however it is really crazy.
