It does seem odd that the cheaper and smaller seat in economy class would fit when business class and it's higher price wouldn t. Thai airway attendants change their uniforms twice during an international flight, Thailand certainly adheres to looks is more than substance. My money is on they don t want "ugly" people messing up the business class experience.

if that is the logic and it makes sense, then children could not fly business as well.

I don't really feel like digging any deeper into it. It seems there are two main reasons for their implementation.
Some airlines use them in economy, usually in exit rows. Reason, they are able to decrease the distance between rows, because the airbags create a greater likelihood of being conscious after a crash.
in premium classes they allow better space effiency and more creative seating layout.
Also, it keeps the fatties out

Business class is usually at the front of the aircraft....You would have the trimmers going crazy trying to pull the nose up for the entire flight ......

I wonder how much money Ryanair could make with the surcharges and how much fuel (money) they could save by only flying slim people?

The currently fly an average of 263,000 people per day.

If they could reduce the average weight of each passenger by just 10 kilos, by attracting slim people, that's 2360 metric tonnes of weight, every day. That's 861,400 tonnes per year.

That's a lot of fuel saved.

But what about us taller people who have to maintain a healthy weight above 75kg to not look gaunt, I'm not being anorexic to fly you bastards

I'm moderately tall, and weigh from 75-90kg depending on beer.

Budget carriers = yeah, I'm fucked.

Economy to mid range carriers = better, best still is emergency exit or front row seats.

Business class - perfect unless you are a fucking land whale, like those ladies all are. They got to be closer to 200kg than 100kg.

Ideal is first class, but that doesn't happen for me unless it's comped or an upgrade.
