We had a shotgun under my parents' bed for years. It was pretty hard to get a license because of various political groups that were often killing each other. It was good for hunting and scaring off real or imagined intruders. Firing a 12 guage off makes a good noise. I wish we still had that gun. I don't like when gangsters have Mac 10s and AKs and sawn offs though.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Yup. Loud as hell. First gun my dad let me shoot was a 12-gauge. Got some good partridge with it.

The first time I shot a 12 gauge I was young enough that the recoil knocked me off my feet. I had only used an air rifle and .22s before then, a shotgun is way more impressive.

I think I was prone the first few times I shot guns. Definitely with the deer rifle.

I remember being pretty damn impressed with the deer rifle the first time I tried that too. They're definitely something that demands respect and proper handling.

I seem to recall my dad letting me shoot a 7mm Mauser rifle. Quite a kick for a teenage boy.

When I was a kid a lot of people had ex WW2 .303 Lee Enfields lying around the house. Their fathers / grandfathers brought them back from the war and they were great for deer hunting. I blame being too close to a friend shooting one for my tinnitus in one ear.

EDIT : Don't know why pics never seem to work on this website for me..

Grew up in a coastal fishing village, as a kid, the Lee Enfield 303 was the favorite gun for dealing with the seals that robbed fish from the salmon drift nets.
The guns are all gone and so are the rights for salmon fishing.
