It's a wild boar invasion coming to a place near you

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Seems the critters have developed a taste for cocaine..

Herd of wild boar sniff out Italian drug gang’s cocaine stash

Image

A gang of drug dealers in Tuscany was left aghast after discovering that a stash of cocaine they buried carefully in the woods had been dug up by a herd of wild boar.

The animals managed to rip open the waterproof packages in which the cocaine was kept, scattering €20,000 ($32,000) worth of the white powder across the forest floor.

The unusual "bust" came to light when police tapped the telephones of a suspected drug-trafficking gang – consisting of an Italian and three Albanians. One of the men was recorded furiously reporting the loss of the cocaine to a fellow gang member, telling him the drugs were ruined.

The cocaine was stashed in a forest in the Chiana Valley, near Arezzo, far from prying eyes. The gang would return to it from time to time to replenish their supplies.

It is not known what became of the boar or what effect the cocaine had.

feral hogs are big problem in the USA made worse by government interference during previous administrations. In 2006 it was forbidden for locals to eradicate the packs and I was approached by a guy wanting my signature on a federal form allowing him to hunt from a helicopter over my property.
What a fucking joke this turned into.
Millions of wild hogs running amok...rooting around.
I thought I was looking at a black angus kneeling funny and it was a huge hog...
My neighbor shot 57 one winter.
Bow hunters paying big money to hunt deer were feeding wild hogs with their bait corn and catching them on their trail cameras...Out of frustration, some shot the hogs because the big bucks were not to be found.
Big Corporate hog farms...indoor multi level breeding houses put the small timer out of business. Hogs were released into the wild.
Nothing new...The Jamaicans who escaped the plantations and lived in the hills dined on feral hogs left by the Spanish..jerk pork was born.
My neighbor bought some piglets for $20/each and they got big fast.. in no time, he had some big hogs who were voracious... delicious too.

A 411-pound feral hog infiltrated a Texas golf course last week, prompting a professional team to trap and remove the abnormally large animal.

Wyatt Walton, of the invasive species removal company Lone Star Trapping, responded to the call at Gateway Hills Golf Course on September 12.

He told Insider it took a team of three men and three dogs to subdue the hog.

Are they legal to kill and eat? Should not be a problem in Texas. Free food.

A common mistake, but that is not a pig actually.
It is a Elephas maximus borneensis - a subspecies of pachyderm found only in Borneo and Texas.
Note the abbreviated trunk. The tusks might look small but unlike those of other elephants, they are razor sharp.
Those found in Borneo are much smaller than most elephant species - but of course in Texas they grow huuuge.

Yes, and the reason Elephas maximus borneensis grows so huuuge in Texas is that these beasts feast on the human sized leaves of the Coccoloba gigantifolia tree...a species unique to Texas. :tumbleweed:

Thanks Clutch, just goes to show if you hang about CEO you never stop learning.

That also explains another mystery. I had assumed the ears were small on this species because the abbreviated trunk did not allow the elephant to water them properly.
I realise now they have been chewed off by other elephants mistaking them for the leaves of the Coccoloba gigantifolia tree.

I don't understand why feral pigs and men can't live in peace.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

feral hogs are big problem in the USA
Things just got a whole lot more severe..

Autopsy shows woman found dead in Anahuac, Texas was killed by hogs.

ImageImage

ANAHUAC, Texas — A 59-year-old caretaker found dead Sunday morning outside of a home in Anahuac was attacked and killed by wild hogs according to the autopsy.

The autopsy results showed the cause of death as 'exsanguination due to feral hog assault,' meaning she bled to death.

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said it's a "very rare incident," and less than 6 of these deaths have been reported in the U.S.

Hawthorne said the family she was caring for have about 10 or 12 acres, and "the feral hogs have taken over some of their family land."

Authorities said the body of Christine Rollins, of Liberty, was found in the front yard of a home in the 4000 block of State Highway 61. Rollins was the caretaker of an elderly couple who lives at the home, authorities said.
