Why does Justin Trudeau have to apologise for dressing up in a theme party 18 years ago?

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

The video is from 1968, the year that Martin Luther King was assassinated. The video also from 1968 below suggests that the "joke" wasn t funny to everyone. I am glad we have moved forward from when we were young.

Trudeau went from woke to joke in about one night. Consider this: in the third film that was released he was 29 years old, i.e. not a foolish teenager, and he was a teacher at the time. It was 2001 as well!! How could he not know better? Because he is the most stupid politician to ever come out of Canada!!

" I didn’t see that from the layers of privilege that I have. And for that, I am deeply sorry, and I apologize.”

The guy is finished, Canada vote for a new government on Oct 21. No amount of grovelling between now and then can fix this for him.

I guess we're a bit more relaxed about "brownface" in the antipodes. This television series came out in 2014 and was shown on Australian and NZ TV but was pulled in 2017 (in NZ) due to claims of racism and "lazy stereotyping".

"Morris dancing troop Britannia Coconutters banned from hometown over safety concerns (Telegraph 19 Nov 2013)
Council bosses say the 156-year tradition must end after photographs taken covertly at the last event show spectators standing on the highway. " But no concerns about the black faces, or was the safety reason just a pretext :plus1:

"A Morris dancing tradition that dates back 156 years has been barred from its Lancashire hometown because of safety concerns. Members of Britannia Coconutters, dressed in turbans, red and white kilts, clogs and blackened faces, perform 12 hours of dances at 20 pubs in Bacup, every Easter Saturday. But council bosses say the tradition must end, after photographs taken covertly at the last event show spectators standing on the highway."
