What's happening in your life?

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Halfway through the tunnel/walkway train security have put up tape and are stopping everyone checking for valid tickets which I thought was overkill and inconsiderate as lines started to form and people ran the risk of missing connections.

Holding my ticket up to one of the security guys I say “Is this what it’s got to where you need to inconvenience people when they’ve already proven they’re in possession of a valid ticket?” His reply “Yep!” But he doesn’t inspect or look at my ticket focussing on people behind me.

I say, “Look at my ticket then.” He says, “Move on, mate.” I say, “No, you disrespectful fuck, if you’re going to make me line up to prove I have a ticket, you are going to inspect it.” I convey my displeasure in a rather confronting manner and I’m immediately surrounded by a semi circle of six security guards trying to be intimidating.

The security guy in a poor attempt at a commanding voice returns with “We are able to restrict your travel if you create a disturbance, mate.” I look him square in the eye and respond “Restrict my travel, I fuckin’ dare you!!” I wait then repeat myself “I dare any one of you to stop me. Go on, restrict my travel.” Nothing. I turn and walk away.

If you’re going to make me line up to prove I have a train ticket after already having done so, you’re going to actually check it.
It's amassing how important some people think they are when you give them a uniform to wear at work.

I don't know what it is with that job, but it seems to attract society's biggest wankers.

I've been in two (from memory) confrontations with security dicks. I respect that they have a job to do even if it is ridiculous sometimes, but there's a respectful way to speak to people, and then there's the wrong way.

I'm generally compliant enough, I might mentally roll my eyes at it but I don't make a a scene unless some self important little fuckwit starts barking directions at me when I did nothing to deserve it.
It's an intrusion into your life that isn't required. You're going about your day being lawful and complying with society's wishes when the authorities insert themselves into it for no good reason other than what often appears to me to be nothing more than reminding you they're there. While it's fair to say I can be quite disagreeable when prodded, I would much prefer when in Perth to be completely left alone and anonymous with nobody taking interest in what I'm doing at all - but that's an impossibility with pesky pointless encroachments by authorities. Don't get me started on cameras...

With two weeks left before heading back to Asia and the YouTube experiment that ended earlier in the year continuing to make a small passive income (some vids hitting 80k), I think the GoPro will be dusted off and its batteries re-charged.

This time the approach will be a much more casual affair with making a single video once a week instead of trying to knock one out every couple of days.

I've changed the channel name to Fiasco da Gama - I'm sure you're thrilled to know.

This vid just hit 86k which is about 85,000 more views than I'd expected any of them to make.

86k views isn't bad.

How many $$$ would that convert to?

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

RPM (Revenue Per Mille) varies hugely depending on where the viewership is coming from with countries like India, Indonesia etc not having a great return. So far 86k has provided under $150.

Views on external sites count.
