This trip has been a pretty good 7 month jaunt trying the YouTube thing and visiting Nepal, India, Thailand, and now Bali.

Ubud has long been a favorite place to stop in SEA reaching back across almost forty years of wandering the region, and after a visit to a visa agent yesterday, I've decided to pull the trigger and move to Ubud from June 8th.

The long term rental has been sorted so it's ten more days in Bali, five weeks back in Australia, then an attempt at healthy living in the rice fields while engaged in the hobbies - maybe a bit more YouTube.

One thing that became apparent during this trip is how age affects the quality of travel. I now find the busses in India too brutal, 3rd class train travel equally uncomfortable, extended periods walking with only a 10kg pack resulting in a swollen knee or sore back, hanging onto the back of a scooter...it goes on.

Old age doesn't come alone, and I guess at some point the time comes when we can't do the low budget travel thing any more. I think I'm done.

Like most things visa related around these parts not all official requirements need be met if you have the right agent.

The most popular long-ish stay visas I'm aware of are the Social Budaya and Retirement visas. The Social Budaya is valid for two months with two 60 day extensions possible giving you 180 days total, this visa requiring you to leave the country and start the process again after six months. $AUS700 for an agent to handle.

The Retirement visa is a multiple entry visa valid for 12 months and after five years on this visa you can apply for a KITAP visa which affords you residency rights. Officially, the retirement visa requirements may put many off applying, but the right agent makes things a little simpler. Agent cost $AUS1400 per year.

My advice is come for a visit, and while you're here go see an "experienced" agent who can handle things.

There's plenty of options though, look at these concrete alleys all over the place !
Now i can focus on learning how to roller blade for good, there's plenty of skateboard private lessons too, i might just bicycle trough these alleys though, allthough these electric scooters seems funny to try, and anyway whatever the outcome, i'll still be able to roam the place with an electric wheelchair !

Caught up with a busking friend who I find hard not to photograph whenever we catch up - fortunately she enjoys it as well.

I've taken quite a few photos of Star over the years which has shown how frequently she has to put up with distractions - it goes with the territory, she says.

The guy passed out on the ground was all up in my friend's face being a complete ass which saw the need for someone to have a chat to him. He then fell unconscious with medics and police called.
