Re: What's happening in your life?
You've not experienced constant ongoing or chronic pain, or had any debilitating condition, obviously - there's no decision to be made, people need to be out of pain, and for many that is on a daily basis. Again you prove that you're unable to understand anything outside of your own personal experience, and by extension, display a very narrow perception of things. Your lack of awareness or the inability to discern anything beyond the way the world affects you and how you respond to it is bizarre . "I don't need painkillers regularly, why would anyone else?" Honestly, it's bizarre.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 3:59 pm Whenever i have back pain i take a 100 mgs tramadol, smoke a bit of pot and am fine in the morning,

I am not an expert in this field, but have you tried whether a physiotherapist can help you strengthen the muscles in your back and tummy with exercises so that the pain will be less in the long term?Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:50 pm At 6 feet four and a bit in height with scoliosis, spinal stenosis and degenerative spinal disease, I've in recent years started to experience back pain which has been exacerbated by the amount of walking I do. Walking for photography, simply exploring, exercise as well as mental health is an important component to my enjoyment in life - I need to do it. About twelve months ago after exhausting all other options, I was forced to keep a supply of Tramadol at the ready so as to combat the discomfort after an hour or two of moving around - the Tramadol dosage increasing a little every few months as I developed a tolerance to the drug.
I decided about a week ago I wanted to stop taking the pain killer as it had become a daily requirement, and as a recovering addict (clean sixteen years, or so I thought) I wanted off it as there was the feeling I was just using again - even though the drug was being used legitimately. Well, I've suffered some uncomfortable withdrawals over the years, but coming off Tramadol a few days ago was right up there with the best/worst. For a couple of days it was just a shitty ride curled up with sweat soaked sheets, a massive headache from fucking hell, vomiting, aches, chills....you get it.
I'm sure most of you don't require the heads up, but for those who may, Tramadol is a very pernicious pain killer that will surreptitiously drag you in without the realization you're addicted to the shit. I understand there was possibly a little denial being engaged in on my part, but, well...my advice is to give it a wide birth if you can - it really has to be a last resort. And if it is genuinely needed for quality of life, you better not run out for more than around 12-24 hours.
Re: What's happening in your life?
My life is a little boring at present time, tomorrow ive got the dentist yet again. I'm switching from the overpriced one to a different cambodian dentist to finish up the crown on my front tooth...
Other than that im looking to buy a drone...
And after all is said and done im moving my stuff to the islands should be in two weeks or 3 weeks...here ill film a few youtube vids while going boating nothing too crazy
I'm keeping an eye on the news and it looks like the CV virus is really going downhill in the states, i bet after a few months we will be back to normal operations...slight add the entire world will return to somewhat normal one the USA gets back on its feet.
From there, i have no idea which direction ill be going in, stay in Asia? Move to South America? Australia? or Eastern Europe? or even western.

Re: What's happening in your life?
It's a condition you're born with and as such, I've done light to moderate strength building exercises for years but unfortunately with little to no effect. The issue lay with bone on bone where the edges of two vertebrae grind against each other caused by the forty degree bend in the spine or scoliosis (S shape spine). X-rays look like this.Kammekor wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 5:16 pmI am not an expert in this field, but have you tried whether a physiotherapist can help you strengthen the muscles in your back and tummy with exercises so that the pain will be less in the long term?Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:50 pm At 6 feet four and a bit in height with scoliosis, spinal stenosis and degenerative spinal disease, I've in recent years started to experience back pain which has been exacerbated by the amount of walking I do. At the bottom part of the curvature, the two right edges of the vertebrae sit directly on top of each other. I've had many visits to physios with again, little to no effect or relief. Muscle building doesn't seem to be an effective treatment for me, although serious stretching and hanging can relieve some discomfort at the end of the day. Thanks for the interest and offer of what is understood to be a standard component of treatment for the condition.
Edited to add; the stress put on the rib cage can also cause considerable discomfort

A neurosurgeon spinal doctor hasn’t talked to you about lumbar scoliosis correction yet? Possibly fusion, or plates and screws?
The degree isn’t critical to impair lung function and blood flow, but it isn’t great. Hyper inflated lungs from possibly long term smoking.
Please take care!

Call it a hunch but I think he's unlikely to pay attention to a guy whose current medical priority is reporting on the amount of jizz he and his missus crawl around the bedroom gathering and measuring.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 12:11 am A neurosurgeon spinal doctor hasn’t talked to you about lumbar scoliosis correction yet? I didn’t know that you are a retired ortho spine surgeon. And this is your professional medical opinion?Cowshed Cowboy wrote:Total weirodow
And exactly how does this help KFH’s scoliosis?
Thanks for taking the time to stalk me over multiple threads, so generous of you.
That’s like saying a rocket engineer is unqualified to build a dog house, because he only knows how to build rockets.
KFH - if exercise and medications are no longer helping, would seriously recommend seeing a spine specialist back in Australia or some western country. You may have to bite the bullet. Good luck and stay safe!
