Re: What's happening in your life?
Congratulations!
I don't really get this, what are "Khmer clothes"? Kramas and Sampots? Otherwise they are the exact same thing as "barang clothes" considering many of the clothes bought in the west are manufactured here. I can't say I've ever noticed clothes bleeding colors either, have you been washing them with a hot cycle or something?Discovered some Khmer clothes are excellent at bleeding colors over everything in the wash. Threw out all the old barang clothes and replaced them. Got color catching sheets for the next round.
After many years of use, tossed out all the old work clothes of the former life and bought all new ones for the new life.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Some clothes do lose a lot of colour on their first wash, usually reds for some reason.
Much clothing has a “wash separately” label on.

If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

Same as above. Unless you've got brand new whites, I've never had an issue. My mom lied to me all this time.

Giving up smoking is hell difficult, it took me a few tries to be able to stop completely, I was a pack a day cigarette smoker.
My big change is I’m now single.
I’m feeling a new sense of freedom and planning on traveling a lot over the coming year, including a cruise from Sydney to Singapore.

In the process of relocating from Thailand to Luang Prabang (Laos). Not happy to jump through hoops anymore in Thailand with immigration reports every time I spend a night away from home - bet prisoners out on bail don't even have to do that

That’s what I thought too after seeing the pregnancy test. Kid is always welcome. After a while, she told me it was the pregnancy test result of her friend that has gotten married. I asked her why she didn’t tell me at the start, she said I never asked and just assumed. Woman joke?John Bingham wrote:Congratulations!

Khmer clothes to me are the light krama sampot stuff that the villagers wear in the videos. Lightweight, breathable. Nothing says to a jaow that I’m just a step above a jai than wearing it during the day.
None of those kinds of Khmer clothes come with tags with washing and drying instructions, if you find one, snap a pic and post it.
I only separate clothes into whites and colors for washing due to volume. I sweat a lot in Cambodia and go through lots of clothes. Peasant style during the day, shirts and shorts at night. Otherwise everything goes into the washing machine on normal or heavy setting and large load setting in the dryer. I’m not a hand washer.
The latest batch of peasant style pants from the Siem Reap area bleeds colors a lot. Turned all non-villager style clothes (aka all my shirts and shorts) a wonderful uneven pinkish blue. Unless I want to be mistaken for a happy pizza reject, they are unusable.
I am well aware of ‘made in Cambodia’ clothes. I buy them at Walmart. And wear them in Cambodia. (Joke). Actually no more. Those were the ones that were ruined by the Khmer clothes.

Dont you live in Pattaya? They require it, as does Phuket and many others.Cowshed Cowboy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 12:44 amWhere do you live in Thailand that requires and actively enforces that ?
Bangkok, only when you leave the country.

Oh right. I have a few kramas but I don't know anyone who wears that stuff. Even when I visit villages they nearly all wear normal clothes.Khmer clothes to me are the light krama sampot stuff that the villagers wear in the videos. Lightweight, breathable.
