What's happening in your life?

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Show us a picture. I'm pretty sure it might not be nicotine.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I turned 60 today! Born 9-9-59.

I remember turning 40 in Phnom Penh. Had a huge party, like I did with this one.

My band played out here, and we had about 100 people. We drank, danced, and partied all night. Well, others danced---I'm in the band.

A great birthday!

Reminds me of the joke I read on the internet last week (hope it wasn't stolen from CEO).

Great night. Got in around 4am after six or seven hours jamming with two 25 year-old french girls, a Nepalese music producer, and a Turkish dude. The French girls own the bar I drink at and after some time we've become friends (nothing to do with the amount of dough I drop every time I go there, of course). They took me to their friends house replete with full bar, guitars, amps, piano etc. Brilliant!!

Just to ad, one French girl is classically trained on the piano and is just a juke box. Name a song..

In 2010 I was in Samosir, lake Toba, Indonesia, when I received an email advising me my mother only had a couple of weeks to live - I would return to Australia so as to spend any remaining time she had together. I left immediately and within twenty four hours I was at our family home - my mother died a few hours before I arrived, she was 72 years old.

My father has recently presented for emergency treatment at a hospital with symptoms of constipation and stomach pain - scans revealing internal bleeding due to bowel cancer with secondary tumors in his lungs. At 83 years of age surgery isn't an option as his heart is too weak to endure the sixteen hour procedure he needs, his next bleed may be his last. Fortunately I'll get to spend time with my father, unlike my mother. I've flights booked for an early February return to Southeast Asia which I'd only this last week considered bringing forward for an imminent return. Thankfully I didn't.

This last three weeks I've attended the funeral of a friend who died of a heart attack (only 44 years-old), another friend had a heart attack and lives to tell the tale (these two both paying the price of poor lifestyle choices), my brother-in-law who i've known since eight years of age (he's more like a brother) - his sister died, and my father now gets the news his time is at an end.

Just quietly, it's been a rather crap few weeks since my return back to Australia.

My father died a few days ago (not looking for sympathy or condolences) which I'm pleased about in the sense that it was a very short illness. He got to take one last trip back to his home town Cardiff at the end of last year, and we got to spend some quality time together. Chatting with him two weeks ago he demanded I go back to Asia on my next planned trip which was scheduled for this Tuesday - obviously I'm not going.

I had a good chat with my doctor (a splendid fellow) and we were discussing end of life choices when taken down with ill-ness, in my father's case, cancer. Dad started chemo with the resulting drop in white cell count enabling infection to spread quickly through him and within four hours of entering hospital he succumbed to septic multiple organ failure. At eighty three years of age and having lived a full life I'm not sure I'd want to hang around much longer and would probably let nature take its course.

My doctor the night prior to my appointment with him was visiting a ninety three year old women who was active, lucid (sharp) and still very engaged in life when he had to tell her she had breast cancer. His advice to her and her family was that any form of treatment would reduce her quality of life considerably relative to what it was now, and it was his opinion she should also let things run their course.

Anyway, I trust this post finds you and yours all well and happy in life.
