I'm pretty sure now that Trump is trying to make Kim play his hand, there's a lot of card metaphors going round. He obviously thinks he's bluffing. It's not Americans that are going to die, it's Koreans and maybe some Japanese, so to him it'll be no great loss.

I am a believer that a chosen candidate for government is there for getting a particular job done.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

I very much wonder if as a natural conclusion to recent technical advances coupled with the DPRKs annual celebrations tomorrow, Could an ICBM launch tipped with a nuke, sent to maximum altitude and detonated be on the cards? A big firework display for the celebrations, (hopefully too high to cause a threat to earth) and 100% proof that N. Korea has achieved it's goal of a nuclear deterrent.
If this was to happen and if the EMP damaged any American Space stuff (or if the americans want to fain some stuff broke) things could scary and fast.
This is not a prediction, I don't even believe it's probable, but I do believe it's definitely a possibility.
If the Americans and their friends believe this is a probable outcome, I think the ICBM could be intercepted. That would be a very interesting moment.

"Personally, I wouldn't mind if they nuked Seattle."

After having taught ESL in S. Korea I wouldn't care if they nuked the whole peninsula as long as they could evacuate all foreign civilians and foreign military personnel first.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Yeah. I spent six years in Korea and have enough FF miles on Korean Air for a round-trip ticket from China... but they'll go to waste because why the fuck would I want to go to Korea?
You could be next.
