Build a wall.
Spoiler:
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Problem is defending yourself from attackers can get you in trouble. My country is so fucked.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 5:12 am Politics aside; when the police have lost the streets and looters and thugs are destroying property without reason, old men and women are being beaten and anarchy is in the streets - that's about the time you want a pistol and an assault rifle and around 4 years of ammo.

Re: Unrest is sweeping across the US
As a redneck transplant, I am more than happy to build a wall and give the protestors their own utopia. The problem is, the protestors keep coming to Texas for jobs, low taxes, responsible government, etc., slowly transforming this great state into the people’s democracy of Kalifornia.
The Houston police chief and most of the officers stood in solidarity with the protestors. But this isn’t good enough for them. Now they are calling for Houston Police to be disbanded, too.
Any suggestions to this madness?
The surge in gun sales isn’t fueling the anarchy and chaos (as the gun control crowd love to believe). It’s a reaction to the breakdown of society.
As a naturalized citizen, most Americans don’t run when things are bad. They stay, dig in, and try to make their world a better place.
To those who have relocated, kudos to you.

The first 3 minuets of that vid shows what the big problem is ,,,, Everyone wants to talk and express their opinion but no-one want to listen to what the other person is saying.

I should add..SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 3:33 am Fundementalist individualism, hyper consumerism and free-range dog eat dog capitalism are not the building blocks of an enduring, cohesive society.
...it seems.
This ^^^ is such a pity because USA has so many positive values. It was the beacon to world for a period - because of its values.
Even these 3 charactoristics ^^^ are good qualities in themselves.
But taking individualism, consumerism ( wanting a higher living standard) and capitalism to the extremes America has, has caused deep fractures to the cohesiveness of society as a whole.
American society is in a state of breaking down.
There is no glue to hold its fractured parts together these days.
Any king's horses or any king's men got any realistic ideas on how this rapidly fracturing Dumpty Humpty can be put back together again?
A renewed, united, visionary, leading world power posessing eg, the USA's stated values, is just what is needed right now.
I'd back them in a flash against china if i thought they had a chance.
Unfortunately I just can not see that happening right now.

In an ideal setting, maybe I'd agree with you.Duncan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 6:56 amBig Daikon wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 6:27 amProblem is defending yourself from attackers can get you in trouble. What I see is two Blacks threatening two Whites, the woman being pregnant. The scenario was very dangerous for the Whites and, frankly, may have been a set-up.

The media projects the image of America that it wants the world to see and in turn, turns America into the image that it portrays.SternAAlbifrons wrote:A renewed, united, visionary, leading world power possessing eg, the USA's stated values, is just what is needed right now.

Unfortunately I just can not see that happening right now.
When Hollywood was first developing in the 1920s and 1930s, it was founded by Jewish immigrants who saw America as the beacon of hope, and thus projected it as such. They all retired by the 1960s and by the 1970s and the radicals took over. Remember the Verona project? America was projected as weak, confused, divided.
When Reagan was the head of the Film Actor’s Screen Guild, he stipulated that all movies, TV, etc., had to be pro-American, pro-traditional values. America was perceived as strong again.
The radicals have all but erased Reagan and championed a weak, confused, divided America for the entire world to see. This in turn has made America exactly what they were hoping for.

Would be interesting to know who's buying the most guns, Dems voters or Republican voters.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 1:30 pm gun sales have never been better
wow, the revolution is coming and lots are getting prepared...
https://www.sbs.com.au/news/unrest-is-s ... P1pPjVvvjgThe FBI’s most recent data shows it carried out a record 3.9 million background checks for gun purchases in the month of June, the highest figure since records began in 1998.
The bureau carried out just over 3 million checks in May and 2.3 million checks in June 2019.
The states with the highest number of checks were Illinois, Kentucky, Texas, Florida and California.
Could present an interesting polling statistic.

Nuke, you just said it yourself
- Americans are feeling like they need guns for personal protection because of " the breakdown of society".
PS, in no otherr civilused western country on the planet do the people feel like this. This is not normal. You have serious-shit problems. Yoo hooo
Sorry to be so forthright - but even more self-aggrondising hollywood hype about how so god-fucking-special USA is will not paper over the cracks any more.
Try the opposite tack maybe - reality, and a bit of humility.
Late edit. Sorry Nuke, i don't mean to disrespect the solution you put forward - about sending out a positive message.
But i guess i stronly disagree, in fact there are aspects of that hype that i beleive are a big part of the problem.
But i also "get" some aspects of what you are saying.

It aims to reframe the country’s history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative.
