Why, pray tell?hanno wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 11:28 amFastest I did in a car was 270 km/h in a Toyota Supra. I was selling cars to American soldiers (not too proud of that episode, but it was good money) and the cars were not speed-limited as the German market cars were. I stopped shaking about two hours later.....yongchi wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 10:26 amLooking at the right side, it looks like this is indeed the AMG version.ExPenhMan wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 9:46 am It's a Mercedes C63 coupe. Still, that is some speed.
Apart from flying, the fastest I have gone was slightly over 400 km/h-in the Maglev connecting Shanghai airport and the city.
I recommend that way for us “older folk,” if you want the experience.

It was a pretty cut-throat business. Some Private would walk in with 2 kids and a pregnant wife and we'd sell him a Toyota Celica because the commission was good. We were guaranteed payment as the money came straight out of the paycheck but the kid couldn't afford the petrol. I had too many scruples for a job like that. The kicker was when a young soldier killed himself riding a Kawasaki Ninja that I had sold to him a couple of days earlier.WildA wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 11:57 amWhy, pray tell?hanno wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 11:28 amFastest I did in a car was 270 km/h in a Toyota Supra. Brought back by members of US armed forces. Generally a very good earner back in the US, due to them being rare or unicorn vehicles with low import restrictions.

I know the QEW, and Burlington is just up the Road for Oakville, where I used to visit regularly. That's a busy stretch of road most of the time, that's not in the sticks. 308 clicks is quite an achievement, the lad is famous!!canucklhead wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 10:27 am That bit of road between Hamilton and TO is about 8 lanes wide in most sections. No danger of hitting any animals. This kid will have street cred up the yang when he gets out.
This is the same stretch of highway that claimed one of the great hockey players Tim Horton. It was 1973 and Tim was driving back to TO after a game in Buffalo in his Pantera. He was loaded and lost cotrol of the car at high speed.

No impressive speeds like you dudes, just driving a cheap assed Chebby in the Western provinces and keeping the 85MPH limit speedo pegged for hours. What was impressive was how empty the highway was. Taking a pee meant stopping right on the highway and opening the door. No need to pull onto the shoulder.

Re: 'Unbelievable': Young driver caught allegedly speeding 308 km/h on Ontario highway
I managed 240 kph (on the dial) in my Honda CRX VTi Targa Top on the flat, dry motorway as it crosses from Belgium and into France. I was hurrying to make the ferry back to the UK for the weekend. No police and no other cars on that deserted stretch of road. The faster that I drove, the more I felt the rear aerofoil push me down onto the road - it felt very safe.....

Before I got divorced and lost a huge chunk of my assets to my ex-wife I had a few really nice cars including a Porsche 911 GT3, and a Lamborghini Gallardo.
I took the Lambo to Germany from the UK a few times to drive round the old Nurburgring circuit, and managed to get it up to 295kph on the unlimited speed autobahn. It was scary coming up on container trucks doing about 90kph.

As we are having a show off...
Ferrari 360, Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 2007. I got it up to 170 to 175 (about 273 to 281 KPH)
The road was about 5 lanes with very little on it, but when you are approaching someone doing about 80mph you better keep a very close eye on them. I left at least a one lane gap between me and what I was approaching.
This was the bad boy in question
