Two Canadian business men charged with Espionage in China
OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the government is using public and private measures to secure the release of two Canadians detained in China for 18 months, who on Friday were formally charged with espionage in the politically charged case.
Trudeau said the only reason the two are being detained is because of independent judicial proceedings involving Meng Wanzhou, a top executive at Chinese tech giant Huawei who is fighting an extradition request to the United States.
Really unfortunate, Canada has a very naive approach to Beijing.

Very easy to predict this happening and I'm surprised Canadians would have been travelling/doing business in China knowing this would be a potential outcome.

It is state organised kidnap and ransom. The world needs to wise up to the CPP.

Wise up to the Cambodia Peoples Party?
They haven't graduated to kidnap and ransom yet.....they're still busy slogging dredged sand to Singapore for hundreds of millions of $.
I think you mean CCP.

China wrote the book on the Art of War. In the book, there are no laws, no rules, only victory through any means necessary.
Does the world really expect them to behave any differently?

Re: Two Canadian business men charged with Espionage in China
It would be nice, but no. Anyone with eyes and a semi-functioning brain can see what they are up to and want to get up to. Many western countries have engaged in a program of appeasement in favour of trade and the hopelessly naïve idea that this will encourage the Chinese to be more likely to follow a path to less oppression and more democracy. Canada has learned this the hard way. We are all waiting for Trudeau to grow a pair and stop the mild and meek political answers to hard questions, particularly: when are you going to tell Huawei to fuck off?
I don't like Trump any more than the next fella but I have to say I am happy he has had the guts (if only to bolster his base and election hopes) to confront them more than any western leader since the 70's.

Trudeau is meek and fluffy and is not a good leader. Unfortunately there is no strong opposition to challenge him.
We are stuck looking at his lovely blue eyes!!
