Did Harris ever bait him. Loved the bit about people leaving Trump rallies because people get bored. She knew very well that this would set off the Trumpster. And it wasn't the only barb.

Haha, that was boring, and since she did better than expected (for someone who literally hides from the media without answering questions and has only done 1 real interview since her party gave her the nomination without 1 single primary vote from the people) and Trump didn't nail it, I'll give that to her. Not bad for a 3 vs 1 debate though, to be fair to Trump.
And Taylor Swift came out right after, endorsing Kamala, shocker, lol.

Not sure I can remember you ever making even the slightest concession to any Trump opponent before, so maybe, just maybe, I won't feel like hitting you in the head with a ladyboy's stiletto as often when it come to American politics. There's hope.General Mackevili wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 1:50 pm Haha, that was boring, and since she did better than expected (for someone who literally hides from the media without answering questions and has only done 1 real interview since her party gave her the nomination without 1 single primary vote from the people) and Trump didn't nail it, I'll give that to her. Why not have a poll to see who wins and let's compare with the final outcome.
Re: Trump v Harris: The First Debate (and possibly the last)
I didn't like that they both evaded the questions asked and talked about pretty much anything they felt like.
Trump was comedy gold (They execute babies! Their pets were eaten! She's a Marxist! Guatemala's crime rate dropped because all their criminals came to the US!) and easily triggered, pretty much as expected. He does seem sharp for his age, I'll give him that. I had to laugh out loud when he talked about some of his (imaginary) accomplishments, but he did make some good points, such as making NATO countries pay up and the Biden administration's idiotic decision to let the Nord Stream 2 construction continue.
Harris didn't need to make much of an effort to look saner and less doom and gloom. She didn't say anything outrageous or silly, but she also didn't wow me with any of her statements or ideas. As far as I'm concerned, she's a solid choice in a crazy world, I'm not excited about her though.
If I had been an undecided voter, watching this debate wouldn't have helped me much.

Re: Trump v Harris: The First Debate (and possibly the last)
I agree with Harris not saying much of substance and I also agree that the debate will not swing decided voters. The MAGA crowd will solidly stay behind Trump, even if he became a dog-eating, baby-executing Guatemalan. However, any sane, undecided voter will probably score the depat as a Harris win. Hannibal Lecter would have looked sane next to Dump.Alex wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 3:50 pm I didn't like that they both evaded the questions asked and talked about pretty much anything they felt like.

Re: Trump v Harris: The First Debate (and possibly the last)
I saw an interesting interview last week. The gist of it was that nowadays, in the age of 30-second social media clips, a big goal of a political debate is to get as many of those moments as you can, because social media is where half of the battle is fought and won.Alex wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 3:50 pm I didn't like that they both evaded the questions asked and talked about pretty much anything they felt like.

I'd say, on that front, Kamala scored big today. Clips of her mocking Trump, saying Putin would eat him for breakfast, Trump going on about immigrants eating people's pets, and the abortion stuff - then being fact-checked on it - are probably everywhere online now.

If you had a pot and a kettle on the stove both filled with near boiling water, which one would you watch to see if it released steam first.
No, I didn't watch the comedy show.

" baseless assertions" immigrants eating dogs ? You are a well traveled expat . Many countries citizens eat dogs . Very public knowledge that 100+ different countries "immigrants" new to usa . They all stopped eating dogs when they got to usa ? Are they all new vegetarians ? Tds alive and wellKung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:59 pm Didn't watch much of it but was pleased to witness Trump's baseless assertion that immigrants are now invading towns and eating everyone's pets! Gold!!
Polls, commentators, and a neighbor who acts like my octopus for calling football, elections, and my chances of picking up on a night out, are overwhelming calling Harris the winner.
Harris very well prepared apparently and Trump, well, being Trump.
