There was a Canadian family who did exactly this.

They were outraged by all the gays and wokeness in Canada, so sold their farm and moved to Russia. It didn't go well..

Their bank accounts were frozen and their money 'confiscated'. They couldn't speak any Russian which obviously makes life harder. They apparently didn't know Russia gets cold, so they didn't take any winter clothes - luckily local people had a sense of decency (wokeness?) and donated clothes and other things so they and their kids wouldn't starve or freeze to death. When they took to their YouTube channel to complain, they attracted the wrong type of attention and quickly had to delete the video and make another assuring Russia they didn't mean what they'd said - it seems they don't enjoy the same freedom of speech in Russia that they were used to in Canada.

I haven't seen a follow up story for a while, but the last one I did see mentioned they're still surviving on the charity of well meaning strangers.

They'd for sure have winter clothes. It sounds like, for whatever reason, they didn't take them.
