NKOTB & his Khmer Missus adventures in Texas

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

I hope you're taking care of business. You've got a Ferrari in the garage and they need tending to and to be driven hard, regularly.

Are you picking up what I'm laying down, newkid?
Yes, thank you for your good wishes.
She has me training for every hour. Not quite there yet.

Before she arrived, I applied for life insurance and was denied. Letter from the insurance company was that I was that my health was too poor for their underwriters to accept.

With her help, my health improved, and I reapplied for life insurance and was accepted. Now she and future kids will be taken care of the rest of their lives when I die. Missus still has tears when I mention this.

OMG, that sounds draining. Good to hear that you have life insurance.
Enjoy ! :plus1:

More food porn.

Missus felt better, but was craving lobster. But the lobster had to be nearby, near the supermarket, an impossible task.

So we went to Outback.

Started with an appetizer of ‘genuine Aussie crawfish tails’ breaded and then fried on the Barbie. The crawfish were too embarrassed for a photo.

Then the main course.

Filet Mignon (170 gram) and one lobster (tail) with loaded baked potato.

Image

See unhappy missus face when she saw the lobster. But like a trooper, we gobbled up the tail, and she proceeded to eat all the bones for every last morsel.

Ended with a ‘Thunder from Down Under.’

Image

We were so full of steak that we forgot to buy beef during the post meal grocery shopping run.

Next time, need to bring her to a real seafood restaurant and get her a full lobster.

Good night, everyone.
Stay safe out there.

Found the forever home for us.

It’s the mound of dirt, not the house.
Site located. Now need money and time.

Image

To celebrate, found a new place.
Across the street from chemical and oil refineries.

Image

She inhaled the oysters before a photo could be snapped.

And snow crab.

Image

Better yet, cooked by Khmer.
There is nothing that beats a lovely Khmer angel scrapping out every once of crab meat.

Please stay safe out there.

I’m curious if you re-applied with the same company or a different company. Some companies will insure folks with health problems, for the right price.

If she just arrived at Christmas it would be hard for her to have made life altering changes to your physical health between all these visits to Outback and Red Lobster.

Food porn.

Put the earnest money on the forever home.

To celebrate, went to an upscale seafood restaurant in Galveston.

Image

Listed under ‘Appetizers’ was the ‘Seafood Tower’. Price was ‘Market Price.’

Image

Lump crab ‘salad’, blue crab claws, shrimp, raw oysters.

It was so super pricey, probably the most pricey single dish I’ve ever had. But it was super fresh. And so worth it.

Image

Had to go for a nice long walk along the sea wall afterwards.

I re-applied with the same company. It’s the best life insurance company in the US. They are super picky. I got the reject just before missus arrived. 1 month after missus’ arrival, lost weight, sugars improved, liver didn’t look like it was about to keel over. I went from ‘rejected’ due to impossibly high risk due to the virus, to standard (normal human being). The next level of acceptable is super athlete.

I grew up in Red Lobster land. They are horrible. Confirmed by stories that they use old, frozen seafood, and lots of other shenanigans. I used to visit Outback a lot, sometimes multiple times a week. Since missus’ arrival, just once. She cooks too much yummy food to other than have an occasional taste of something else.

Plus she’s on the path of training my sperm.

More food porn.

On the way back from Galveston, stopped by multiple seafood markets. From the boats to the docks to the market.

Missus made this scrumptious seafood fried noodle dish. With squid, shrimp, sea scallops, lump crab meat. Couldn’t even taste the oil for frying.

Finally got the chance to have missus taste real lobster, not the oversized tiger shrimp with claws that Khmer call lobster.

Image

Twin lobster dish from a Chinese seafood restaurant. Price was similar to buying two lobsters at the market. Plenty of leftovers.
