I have some sympathy for the representatives who voted to sanction them. While their cause is wildly popular and they feel justified disrupting the formal meeting of those elected to craft laws, their behavior was not acceptable..
After googling and reading, this side of the story is hard to find. The severity of the sanction is questionable but playing the race card seems pre-meditated.
I am an Aussie retired in the Philippines but I am concerned at the US descending into anarchy.

That being said, unruly state legislators should face a firing squad.

Support for sanctions seems a vanishingly small minority view in western media. I am curious if western expats in Asia have an opinion.
This is the only site that I follow and it seemed a reasonable forum to satisfy my curiosity.
