Taser, Taser, Taser

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Taser, Taser, Taser

Post by Tootsfriend »

Drop your walking frame and get down on the ground . Nothing to see here as it's normal procedure for NSW police

What a bunch of spineless cowards. If you can't disarm a 95-year-old woman who uses a Zimmer frame, you have no business wearing a police uniform.

It reminds me of this cretin:

She could of used the walking frame to pin down the officer then gone crazy with the steak knife.
Textbook Spartan manoeuvre.

Yeah, you keyboard warriors can criticize our brave men in uniform, but how many of you have had to deal with a denture attack? :assasin:

You have to wonder at the competence of a care home that can’t manage their own patients, that a 95yr old dementia patient warrants a police call.

They should have called for back up, cordoned off the area, and held her at bay, ready for an attack, until a negotiator arrived.
They may not all be going home tonight.

All joking aside, from what we know of this incident there were some seriously poor decisions made in the minutes leading up to the tasing of this lady.
Think of all the 90+ people you have known or met. "spritely" or "they've still got it up top" when referring to the fact they still have their cognitive powers even their bodies are failing them. I was taught to drive by an 81 year old retired Lt Col who was captured by the Japanese and was forced to work on the infamous death railway. At 81 he was an active and resilient character with a sharp mind but by the time he reached 90 he was a shadow of his former s80 years old self.

We can only assume the body cam video puts everyone to shame hence the refusal to release it though it will almost certainly come to the public arena when this all goes to court. The fact the top cop in this case doesn't feel the need to watch it rings more than a few alarm bells regarding her suitability to be in her position.

This isn’t like the old days where things were simply taken care of. Administration is afraid of any accusation of mistreatment, so they probably forbid staff from going off script and solving the problem. Calling the police is the easiest thing to do.

Let the police handle things beyond their training. Let the police get the bad publicity. Police are trained to end threats, not solve complex mental health issues.

Demented 95 year olds with psychiatric issues (no sane person shuffles around in a walker wielding a knife) can be dangerous and unpredictable.

Just my opinions, of course.
