Election is going to be crazy.

The Supreme Court makes final decisions when other regional federal courts or state courts vs. regional federal courts are at odds with each other.

With so many mail in ballots there’s going to be a long time to count them all and many legal challenges for election results.

Unless there’s a clear cut 70-80% to either person running for president, the Supreme Court is going to decide.

In a lot of the smaller races.. see Al Franken, where the results were decided by less than 200 votes, out of 800 mail in ballots, out of 3 million votes cast, expect legal challenges to go to the Supreme Court as well.

So Biden saying wait until the election results are in is a white herring.

The full court is needed just to decide the results of this upcoming election.

Plus the Democrats have stated over and over when they get in power to ‘pack’ the Supreme Court. Maybe double the number of justices, and make sure all the newly created justices are radical democrats.

Just my read on this.

the president rules the country for 4 years, ( 8 if they are lucky )
a SCJ can make decisions that affect the country for 20-30 years++
not something to jump into quickly

this....is moving to fast...
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Monday he will announce his U.S. Supreme Court pick by the end of the week, moving quickly to fill the seat of liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg and cement a 6-3 conservative majority ahead of his Nov. 3 re-election bid.

Trump said he would put forward his nominee on Friday or Saturday and called upon the Senate, controlled by his fellow Republicans, to vote on confirmation ahead of the election.

Trump has mentioned as possible candidates two federal appellate judges: Amy Coney Barrett of the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and Barbara Lagoa of the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He appointed both to their current posts. He said he is looking "very seriously" at five candidates.

Why the debate on what Dems said in 2016 vs Reps now and vice versa.

Dems wouldn’t have had the votes, Rs do.

And it’s politics, they all do what is in their own interest. I have no love for trump and am left wing but side with trump on this one

Do you think Trump is actually pro-life? Or is he just pandering to his base and thinks that women being able to get rid on unwanted babies is no longer a solution he will ever personally need, so screw the rest of you. He's a New Yorker who used to have many friends in the Democratic party - hardly a natural habitat of pro-lifers.

Revoking Obama Care I can see, but overturning Roe v Wade for political expediency is another thing.

This is a real knee-jerk issue. An overturning of Roe v Wade wouldn't necessarily be an end to a woman's right to choose.

It just means that it would revert to the States to determine the legality/legislation of it, separately, each on their own.

It might not be such a bad idea for more issues to be decided at the State and local government level.

It would cause more citizens to be more active in State and local elections.

I think most would agree that the US federal government as a whole is kind of bloated. An increased onus put on the States would be a positive.

You can see this play out in California right now. It's a shit-show there in terms of how they are handling covid, the homeless issue as well as taxes.

There is a mass migration out of California going on. People are taking their tax dollars elsewhere. I have family and friends that have moved from California to Arizona and out to the east coast.

Joe Rogan just moved his entire podcast operation and family to Texas.

When people don't like what is happening in their State, most have an option to eventually move to another State.

But if the Federal government gets too overbearing and bloated.......it's a lot harder to turn that ship around........and where are you going to move to, Canada / Mexico?

My money is on....

Amy Coney Barrett

If you want to browse the list of potential nominees it is linked below.
The full list of poential nominees to the USSC
Top marks to you...

Donald Trump has nominated appeals court judge Amy Coney Barrett to take the place of Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the US supreme court, saying he expected the appointment to be confirmed before the 3 November presidential election. Barrett is a devout pro-life Catholic and would tip the supreme court 6-3 in favour of conservatives.

One more reason not to return to the US anytime soon. I could do without that Catholic Cow grazing on the Supreme Court bench.
