UK subjects: the NHS is selling your records
Re: UK subjects: the NHS is selling your records
You can Google it. No names or locations. Just your age and any ills you have.
I picked Cosmo because it lays it out in simple terms that simple people can understand.
And besides which if you’re a UK resident the NHS selling your data is the least of your worries.

Any company prepared to pay money to look at my health records are mugs.nerdlinger wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 11:06 pmOh right, so that stuff about insurance companies being allowed to buy personal data really was just entirely invented by you then. In which case I’d say please stop making stuff up.
I have heard about this on the radio with conspiracy theorists nutters foretelling of doom. I pity them.
The older I get the less I believe or care about.
@Jerry Atrick why do you care? What vexes you so much? You don't even live there.

Well,I used to live there, that's my data on file, so I care.
It didn't vex me in the slightest, and I posted this here as a PSA for others, as I have now replied three times already
I am opting out, which won't prevent my records being shared by data providers, but will strip personal info such as my name etc from said records
Up to you folks what you do

No opt-out is required to ensure that any shared data is anonymized, data shared outside the NHS is anonymized by default regardless of opt-out status.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 12:16 pm I am opting out, which won't prevent my records being shared by data providers, but will strip personal info such as my name etc from said records

Oh, because it's marketed to women so it can't be trusted to report on anything that isn't makeup and dresses? It's not as though other major sources contradict anything in that article.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 12:24 amYes. Cosmopolitan is not a source worth consideringnerdlinger wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 12:08 am Ironic that you’re using the word “blind” when it’s clear you haven’t done any reading at all about the project. You’d rather I explained everything to you here than just follow the link mannanman posted earlier?

I generally agree with your stand, Nerd. (we have had similar issues in Au)
However i do not have unquestioning faith in the safeguards and guarantees that the tech companies and the "efficiency" loving bureaucrats promise. Unfortunately.
Nor do i believe that they lay out what the full future implications will be.
Trust me, i am health care bureaucrat on new-tech steroids
So now as a default position i generally go for the most private option available - with everything.
