Re: Shoeshine scam gang in HCMC targets tourists
To be fair the post is over 2 years old.
Happened to me in Hanoi. Guy took the $1 flip-flop of my foot and 'fixed it' I kept on telling him no in both english & vietnamese, he didn't listen. When he tried to 'fix' the other one I didn't let him.
He demanded money, I said no, that was the end of it.
Needless to say the flip-flop he fixed was the one that broke first.
If someone doesn't get a price before 'agreeing' (not saying no is the same as agreeing) to anything in SEA they deserve to be scammed

Put a smile on my face when i read this post!
I also got hit with this one in Hanoi about 3 years ago.
Didn't give them the amount they wanted but what i did give was well worth it, my friend & I have had a few laughs about it since. I originally thought that there was an insect on my foot & he was brushing it away, there salesmanship was excellent & I still have the sandals.
Good memories!
