For me watching the various news footage highlights the distinct lack of real characters around sport today.

The media grooming by their management companies of modern day "stars" to say the right things to keep the sponsorship deals sweet offer little insight into the individual's real persona. Watching Tiger Woods and Maria Sharapova's grovelling attempts at post scandal damage limitation by their Nike puppeteers sums it up for me. Give me a Seve Ballesteros any day of the week. Many Black people, far less famous shared those beliefs because white people had historically and until the present inflicted unthinkable crimes upon them.
