Just 14 factories targeted in Vietnam's anti-China protests belonged to mainland Chinese
Of 351 plants damaged in one province, just 14 are mainland Chinese-owned, official report says
Only a tiny fraction of the factories looted and damaged in the violent anti-China protests in Vietnam last week were owned by mainland Chinese enterprises, according to an internal Vietnamese official survey seen by the South China Morning Post.
Taiwanese businesses bore the brunt of the two-day frenzy of arson, vandalism and theft as initially peaceful protests triggered by Beijing's move to drill oil in disputed waters off the Paracel Islands ran out of control.

"The revolution did more than legally create the United States; it transformed American society... Far from remaining monarchical, hierarchy-ridden subjects on the margin of civilization, Americans had become, almost overnight, the most liberal, the most democratic, the most commercial minded, and the most modern people in the world." - Gordon S. Wood

Re: riots now in vietnam
after other demonstrations in Vietnam got out of hand in 2014 and 2016, Cambodia saw an immediate increased presence of Chinese factories.
i doubt that the demonstrators knew these businesses they attacked were Taiwan owned.

Re: riots now in vietnam
the riots yesterday were mainly against the land leases, ofc there will some that tries to lump the formosa incident into all these,
and NO NO NO, these fuckers do not differentiate between chinese, taiwanese, singapore, malaysia for that fucking matter, during the 2014 binh duong riot, riot leader specifically target all chinese looking factories to loot, all vietnamese securities at the factories were told to fuck off minutes before the main looters arrive, my friend's staff were left cowering under the office desk for hours, which subsequently led to many factories pulling out.

You need to get your facts straight. The protests started the past weekend THIS YEAR. All your links and quotes above are from 4 years ago. Viets don't want the Chinese to slink into the SAEZs. Read the protest signs, many in English. They specifically say "no Chinese" "not even 1 year" in these three new proposed SAEZs. News reports specifically say the protests were aimed at the Chinese. The Formosa protests are so yesteryear.dron wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 3:24 am

Re: riots now in vietnam
Bullshit! First of all, there are no demonstrations "all over Vietnam". I am currently in Vietnam and it has been very quiet everywhere I go. And no, nobody attacks anyone not Vietnamese.
