If that's a large proportion then 86% is a small proportion? So 1.3 million are not muslim.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 2:14 pmA large proportion (14%) of Indians are Muslim.cptrelentless wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 1:49 pm
The largest ethnic minority in the UK is Indian (1.4 mil). They are very much not keen on Muslims.

Are you really surprised that he posted that?Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2017 7:24 pm Cheers PR. That's a perfect example of a Burmese Buddhist nationalist extremist blog.
This picture is really nasty and resembles anti-semite propaganda from Nazi Germany in the 30s. (The noses are telling.)Yet, 'West Bank of Myanmar' suggests a pro-Israeli anti-Palestinian influence - whatever the inspiration, it's crude and hateful.
I'm not, in the least.
Surprised it was allowed to stand, tbh.

islamophobe - you should know that as a man of letters.lawyer- backed slur for bigots
i would urge people to read the article who have any interest at all in the rohingya situation.
this kind of fine detail is never covered by global media.
it gives a much clearer picture than the confused and garbled reports we see as headlines.
before you get out the tar and feathers- i do not endorse the writer- but i certainly am now better informed than before.

I would urge caution, flb, and if several respectable journalists (oxymoron, nowadays?) back it up, then it may be based on some substance.
No way I'm going to accept this guy's stuff at face value..and it was posted by pr..two red flags, plus the cartoon...3rd red flag.

sure- but i am saying it is worth reading just to know what is being said within burma and or on behalf of burma
i don't think you can construe rich's post as supporting the opinion of the author.
i for one, feel a bit more enlightened as to what burmese buddhists are thinking in the region.
at least one of them

Vlad is anti ANYTHING I post, so anything he comments on, is pretty worthless.
The guy is truly PRO Burmese military and anti Moslem, BUT his writings, research and facts from the 40's are true, and give a great background to why the genocide is taking place. All you need do is read up on the situation back than.
Vlad ever been to Burma? ever read anything about the place? The carton is his not mine.
I have been really harping on what is going on with the Rohingya's and u can see that in my past posts, but this is a viewpoint from the other side and a viewpoint held by many Buddhists Burmese.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Rich and Vlad,
does it have parallels with other countries where the high fertility of uneducated people causes them to migrate to the developed world where birthrates are below replacement?
of course it does.
religion is just a sideshow to these socio biologic facts.
poor ppl are poor because uneducated and live in a society without resources. education can change that, but when in an untenably populated area- ppl get up and move.
just like all those hill tribes.
doesn't matter about their religion really- they just want to take the land, and if the putative owners cannot defend it- they will take it.
the fact that they could come there in such numbers suggests to me that the land was under public title or was sold to these ppl for peanuts- i would bet the former- that they have squatted on state land
1/2 of northern thailand seems to be squatted by thai nationals who built padis and will get clear title.
i did not see that the author was anti muslim per se. he addressed the unbridled and uncontrolled undocumented immigration by bangladeshis in a very short period of time.play the ball, not the man

What really stun me is I stayed two weeks in Sittwe in the late 90’s and I can’t remember seeing any ghetto like I have recently read there were nor feeling any racial tension but I guess one could have said the same from 70’s Yugoslavia.
