Police to Stop Using Live Grenades in Training After Fatal Mishap

Post by Mister »

Jakarta, Indonesia. National Police will stop the use of live grenades to train security guards in explosive handling after a blast occurred during one training session in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi on Tuesday (29/03/16) killing four people.

A live grenade was accidentally detonated as the provincial police conducted a training program for a dozen security guards from a local university, killing the instructor, Brig. Haidir and three participants, identified as Kaharudin, Jufriady and Supriadi.

Future training suggestions are outlined in the following video:

funny video :ROFL2:

regarding the news it is so stupid, they are really knee jerk reactions and not thinking it through, 1 accident and not using live grenade anymore? its like 1 firing range accident and no shooting practice anymore? then how the hell can the soldiers learn? should be investigating on how to prevent future accidents instead.

thats why they never progress much.

Very true.

An earlier story has the headline: Four Killed in Sulawesi During Bomb Disposal Training

http://jakartaglobe.beritasatu.com/news ... -training/

Which begs the question - is it even possible to dispose of / defuse a live grenade?

Fair enough - I wouldn't like to be the one sand bagging a grenade once the pin has been pulled.

Very easy, just unscrew the detonator...unless of course the pins being pulled and lever released already, then it's time to put your head up ya ass and pray (find suitable cover and/or hit the deck).

Because that's the modern world. Nowadays they need to be alert for the chance of a heavily armed jihadi or five rather than just loitering kids.

That's one thing the Philippines has right, every bank and mall has a guard with a shotgun or an assault rifle, AND a pistol. The entrance to every Balinese mall in and around Kuta has two guards similarly armed.

^ Yea, sounds like they were being trained in defensive and reactive actions on...not offensive.
