Oh spiffing...the cruise ship that has been refused from 4 countries is coming to CAMBODIA.

If they haven't got it onboard yet, where better to contract it than Shitsville, and then for onward transmission.

sea-princess passengers were confined to cabins
so depending how well that went, 5% infected in 10 days might be a concern

however this is a completely different ship, and they claim no victims
so it's not clear why it is being turned away by other nations

in any case cambodia (still) looks like a sink

pedophiles, no worries! we won't check your history
419ers and drug runners, just give us our cut!
junkies and tweakers, up to you!
alcoholics and vagrants, welcome!
sex tourists, red carpet!

coronavirus, no problem!

.

monstra mihi bona!

Even IF this actual virus will not cause the overwhelmingly deadly pandemic some may think, it doesn't take much to turn a our fragile society into utter chaos. This is especially true for urban dwellers, who rely on the complex supply chain and uninterrupted labor of others to provide the amounts of energy, medicine, food, and other key supplies needed to survive. Often the common sense precautions people take to stock up on such supplies to provide for their families in times of uncertainty cause much more social disorder and strife than the disease.

174 out of 3,700 is about 4,7%. Pretty steep in about 10 days.
I would have thought a cruise ship, with everyone at close quarters and having a lot of interaction for a number of days would be an ideal environment for an airborne virus to infect large numbers of people.
The fact that les than 5% have tested positive is quite good news I think.

1. official it’s not airborne yet.
2. Incubation time
3. they only test the sick people, no symptoms (yet), no test

Anyway, it’s interesting to see how it evolves.

Today's update of new COVID-19 cases from China was unusually late, and now we know why. Wow.

15,000 new cases were just now reported for Feb. 12th. Most new cases are from Hubei Province. Up to over 60k total. That is near 5 times the average daily reported number to date. 250 new reported deaths, taking the new total reported deaths to 1360. There is almost always a second daily update in a few hours from now. We'll see if that shows another massive jump. Either way, it must be noted that 45,000 of those 60,000 cases are reported as "mild". Still, that means 16% of all reported cases are classified as "serious", meaning requiring hospitalization.

Maybe not really a sudden spike in new cases in the past 24 hours, but a backlog of older test results probably just came in from their multiple labs performing all the actual testing of collected samples? Not sure. Or maybe they have switched to "clinical diagnosis" instead of test kits for the people only showing mild symptoms.
