That will be why Cambodia is safe too. Turmeric is used in many Khmer dishes.

Turmeric (Khmer: រមៀត) is grown in Battambang province and is a common ingredient in many curry powders, soups and rice dishes.
Turmeric, galangal, ginger, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves are essential spices in Khmer cooking, Khmer stews, and nearly all curries.
Unlike Indian spice pastes, it almost always uses fresh ingredients, principally lemongrass, galangal, garlic, shallots and turmeric.

Curry !!!!!!!!!, Green beans!!!!!!!!, ffs how about some decent anti virals and the truth about this Covid-19, reliable info on incubation time and variants due to temp etc.

Or maybe we should all just suck it up and head down to the nearest village witch doctor and get blessed with some pond water and a bangle...  :dragonchase:

WHO sticks to 14-day quarantine against coronavirus
It says incubation period of up to 24 days in China study could be due to 'double exposure'

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is not currently considering a change to its recommended 14-day quarantine period, despite new research by a team of Chinese scientists that has suggested the new coronavirus could have a long incubation period of up to 24 days.

Yesterday, Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) said more evidence is still needed as it is difficult to determine from the paper if the outlier figure is due to errors or bias in the study's methodology.

The Chinese study, led by infectious diseases expert Zhong Nanshan, defined the incubation period as the duration from the contact of the transmission source to the onset of symptoms. It found that the median incubation period was three days, based on the data of 1,099 patients from 552 hospitals in China.

The range of values was given as between zero and 24 days, but the paper did not state how many patients had incubation periods at the top end of the range.

Dr Michael Ryan, executive director of the WHO's Health Emergencies Programme, told a press conference on Monday that outliers need to be looked at very carefully, adding that long incubation periods could be due to a "double exposure".

A first exposure may be assumed to have led to the infection, but it is possible that the person did not catch the virus then and instead got it from a second exposure at a later time, Dr Ryan said.

"We've seen this in Ebola. We've seen very long incubation periods and then when we investigate, we find that there was a second exposure a week later, or two weeks later, and that's when the actual infection occurred," he said.

"There very often can be outliers, and they can be because of the recording of the exposure. We need to be really careful when we look at outlier figures."

Scientists around the globe have been working round the clock to shed light on the nature of the new coronavirus which has now killed over 1,000 people in China alone and infected over 43,000 worldwide.

The Chinese study, which has yet to be peer-reviewed, was uploaded to a free online health sciences archive called medRxiv on Sunday as an unpublished manuscript. The website notes that such manuscripts, or preprints, are "preliminary reports of work that have not been peer-reviewed" that should not be relied on to guide clinical practice or health-related behaviour.

They should also not be reported in news media as established information, the site said.

A number of media outlets did report the possibility of the virus having a 24-day incubation period, leading to concerns over the WHO's recommended 14-day quarantine period.

Most coronaviruses, including the severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (Mers) coronaviruses, have an incubation period of two to 14 days.

My wife just told me she has a 50 kg bag of that special salt tucked away, for those interested, she sells it per spoon.

if there are a few more chinese cases in cambodia, i don't think much will happen

if it starts to spread seriously, some of the international schools might close
perhaps some ngo and foreign offices might 'work from home'
and no doubt some govt offices will seize the opportunity to bunk off
perhaps bars will close from lack of custom
but everyone else will keep making a dollar

if it's serious enough for a PP lock down, all bets are off i think
total chaos, and probably best to be not here
but i doubt very much that'll happen

.

monstra mihi bona!

The cruise ship locked down @ Yokohama keeps giving, now 174 out of 3,700 are infected, among them one 'quarantine health care worker'. Four were taken to the hospital in a serious condition.

174 out of 3,700 is about 4,7%. Pretty steep in about 10 days.

The US just completed its first successful quarantine in almost 60 years. Nearly 200 travelers have been declared free of the coronavirus.

Mike Blake/Reuters

Nearly 200 Americans have been released from a mandatory 14-day quarantine at a military base in Riverside, California.

The citizens were held there after returning from Wuhan, China, where a deadly coronavirus outbreak started in December.

The outbreak has killed more than 1,000 people and infected more than 43,000 as of Tuesday.

The US evacuees did not test positive for the virus and are permitted to return home.

I would have thought a cruise ship, with everyone at close quarters and having a lot of interaction for a number of days would be an ideal environment for an airborne virus to infect large numbers of people.
The fact that les than 5% have tested positive is quite good news I think.
