Virus claimed 86 lives on Friday, deadliest day so far

So what. Someone posted the number, 650k dies every year from common flu in the world, that’s 1780 per day. China has one fourth of world population, that makes 445 people dies in China from common flu every day. More in winter months. Perspective.
If the flu is much worse, why are millions in lockdown and why is the health system in China overwhelmed by this virus? Why did they have to build several hospitals in Wuhan to cope with this new virus?

still only 2 deaths outside China

Still a bigger number than the current Coronavirus death toll, but it has to be considered that influenza is already world wide and not just limited to China. If Coronavirus continues to spread in other countries then surely the death toll will exceed influenza.

Even if it is equal to influenza, it still poses a major threat to developing countries. And just like influenza, I don't think the disease is something for us to really fear. It's the crippling effect that it could have on our society that should be of concern. I'm in my mid thirties, I'll fight it off. But I can't fight off unemployment (should the economy really take a hit), empty shops and an unsettled general public.

Because the nature of the new virus is unknown. I only commented that the death toll is still below normal flu on any given day.

Can't vouch for the source but the translation reads: People locked in the room.
And below the title:
The Yankees who claim to be human rights, democracy and supremacy dare to send troops soon! Save the Chinese! This is so pathetic!

The video was uploaded to youtube in the last hour.
If the video is legit, it truly shows how out of hand things are in Wuhan. If it isn't, I have no doubt that the guys and girls of CEO can debunk it.

Of the flu number you mentioned about 3-4 would occur in Wuhan every day. Even the official fatality numbers in Wuhan are much higher than that.

Comparing the death toll of a virus spread around the world to a new virus currently spreading is comparing apples and pears to me.

Climate science, epidemiology, homicide statistics, origins of life on earth.
Increasingly, i am finding there no point in trying to have a rational, fact and evidence-based discussion on these kinds of subjects with some people.

They just keep coming up with weird theories, stated as fact, or misapply information totally illogically - relentlessly ignoring the credible evidence.
Determined not to "surrender". never never ever - even in the face of proven science

Increasingly, this determined irrationality.
- Why is that?

“I sent messages to Cambodian citizens saying that the disease of Cambodian citizens is not a disease caused by the virus ‘Corona’, but a disease of fear.
“Until now, no Cambodian has contracted this disease yet. Certain countries seem to have waged a psychological war causing fear for citizens.”

. . . rational, fact and evidence-based discussion . . .
bah, mere opinion!
evidence begins at home
if you only see people getting sick in winter, well it's obvious innit?

spanish flu spread in summer

dunning kruger?
but interesting that increased access to knowledge doesn't seem to be having the obvious effect
perhaps there's also increased access to garbage, degradation of trust etc
and people with dumb opinions are allowed into the same room as rational people, via the internet
i suspect parts of this discussion would be extremely short-lived, if it even started, face to face

This is really starting to look like a bioengineered pathogen!

US grants are public info.

"On January 6, 2014, Prof. Zhengli received a US$665,000 grant for a study named The Ecology of Bat Coronaviruses and the Risk of Future Coronavirus Emergence (NIAID R01 AI1 10964) and then four days later on January 10, 2014, an additional US$559,500 grant from the United States Agency of International Development for research studied entitled Emerging Pandemic Threats PREDICT 2_China (Project No. AID-OAA-A-14–00102)."

Prof. Zhengli is the lead researcher at the Wuhan biological research facility located literally across a bridge from the market its claimed to have started at where employees would go for lunch. Zhengli also received grants from the CCP to the tune of around 2.5 million from 2015-2019.

China even had the facility moved on Google Maps after it became too obvious but there exist screen shots of it before the move, and photos on the ground show the facility where its supposed to be. It was moved to 10 miles away in the middle of a park area which doesn't match photos on the ground anymore.

This link covers the facility and Prof. Zhengli's work. Its far too obvious what happened here. The coincidences can't keep piling up.
