Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Any chance we can get a poll to properly gauge forum hysteria?

1, Yes we will die but we will die with dignity

2, Perhaps we might die but we will die with dignity

3, No we will not die, have some dignity
Slow down little world, you're changing too fast.

So, how many of y’all got your flu shot?

The influenza vaccine?

The disease that has killed so many more than this admittedly novel but not even particularly lethal virus that is so similar to the flu?

I’m in an Asian country and the hysteria is absolutely ridiculous. If you aren’t an immune compromised, sick, aged or very young human, there is no danger worse than flu. Which is everywhere, every year. And has a vaccine (not always effective but they try) not enough people get.

Also wearing masks does shit all as viruses are way too small to be blocked, also taking them off to smoke and spit on the street does fuck all, it is ludicrous.

The hysteria level here is just unreal. Where I live, almost no one uses car seats and they hold babies in the front seat and traffic accidents are endemic...but they closed daycares because a scant 15 people in the whole country (all who traveled recently to wuhan) have the virus.

It is absolutely asinine.

Do you realize that China is fucking up it's economy and sealing off millions for a disease that you think is nothing?

Literally 60 times more deadly (0.1-0.2% vs 2-4%) than the normal flu and twice as much more infective.

The big issue is that 20% required ICU treatment.
Think of 1 in 5 with the common flu needed a respirator to live, it can completely overwhelm a city healthcare system in weeks, like in Whuan.
So you get sent home and without ability of ICU the death rate triples so 6% to 9%.

Now think if it gets endemic, so it goes around every year with small mutations like the common flu.
So that death rate can turn into a yearly event.

That's why China is taking it very seriously.

Hopefully they can contain it well.

But here it's hard to believe they can do anything frankly.

Submitted for your consideration:

Reports from Wuhan said that their crematoriums are running 24/7.

Just one crematorium has 30 burners.
It takes about 2 hours for cremation.

24 x 2 = 48
48 x 30 = 1,440 Cremations per DAY

This is one crematorium in one city.

There are reports coming from Shanghai saying the same thing.

The numbers are VASTLY HIGHER than being reported.

Scoffers can be considered useful idiots at this point in time.

I think the big difference between you and me is that IF this new virus is so 'dangerous' as you suggest, I sincerely hope they DO NOT contain it well. Seriously. Because, in my opinion, that's what this earth needs: some disease or whatever that will wipe out at least 25% of the current world population. And if that includes me, fine.

Unfortunately, this new virus is not going to do it. Far from it. Far, far from it. So, in my view, it's indeed nothing.

We are entitled to have different views, right?

3 people with coronavirus enjoyed their time in Cambodia and where only confirmed as Coronavirus patients on the way back.
Information from Chinese source:

(patient 1 is officially confirmed by the Cambodian Government. 2-4 are the patients that tested positive on arrival in Shenzen after they visited Cambodia. Travel itenary is being looked at by the Shenzen Municipal Health Commission, but they stated all three patients traveled from Sihanouk to the capital city (Phnom Penh) and of course Siem Reap).

23rd: Flight LQ809 from Wuhan arrives in Sihanouk on board where 73 passengers. 4 of them are now confirmed to be infected with nCoV.

- Patient 1 (male, 60y):

starts to develop symptoms such as light fever, running nose and a cough on the 25th. Is tested positive on nCoV on the 27th during is stay in Sihanouk. Allegedly spend some time in two hotels and didn't went out. He is in good condition and still in a provincial hospital in Sihanouk

- Patient 2 (female, 62y):

Is starting to develop symptoms during her travels through Cambodia on the 26th. She takes a flight to Shenzen on the 29th.

- Patient 3 (female, 58y):

Is starting to develop symptoms on the 28th and flew to Shenzen on the 29th on arrival she was admitted to the hospital.

- Patient 4 (male, 62y):

Husband from Patient 3. is starting to develop symptoms on the 27th and flew to Shenzen on the 28th. He was admitted in a hospital on the 31st. (note: according the original source he is the husband of patient 3, not sure why the flew to Shenzen on different dates in that case

I agree with this statement. Ppl keeps saying that this virus is not much more deadly than normal flu. The epidemic is currently tightly controlled. If China or the world let lose to allow the virus to run its course (as the annual flu), the death rate might have been substantially higher.

Firstly, if it takes 2 hours as you state, your maths is way off (should be 24/2 instead of 24x2). So 360 cremations per day, not 1,440.

Secondly, Wuhan has like 10M inhabitants. How many people did they cremate on a daily basis before this outbreak, or in other words, on a normal day? You need to know that in order to make sense of any number you calculate. How many burners do they have across all crematoriums of the city? Etc.
