Following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak - News and Discussion

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Speaking of experts, I have found the videos of Dr. John Campbell of England very thorough and professional. After all, he has A and E experience and has a PhD. He has more than 700,000 subscribers.

In his professorial method, he presents his research in the professional journals and gold standard studies, with multiple slides of the data. Plus he puts up links to everything he talks about.

He shows why Vitamin D3 is so important is warding off ALL respiratory infections, not just CV19. Most people have insufficient or severely deficient levels of D3, all of whom are much more vulnerable to respiratory diseases and have much higher death rates.

Doesn't the body produce vitamin D naturally via sun exposure? I would have thought that would help in Florida, but maybe it's the high percentage of seniors.

The video deals with this question. In short, the darker the skin, the less Vit D is produced per amount of exposure. Also, you need Vit D all year round. People in northern climes are very deficient, hence lower defences against the flu in flu season. As I said, the issue is fully described in the vid.

And all those infections led to 24 people admitted to the hospital on the 14th, 15th and 16th of august.

The graph doesn’t show the amount of sick people, it shows the amount of people testing positive on the PCR test.

Intravenous Vitamin C has also been demonstrated in Chinese studies to quickly cure the disease, and is in fact being used in a few enlightened hospitals in the US.
Can you provide a link to back this assertion? I googled it and could not find anything to say it cures the disease...that's not say I didn't miss it though...so great if can provide it.

Rather, I found quite different reports that suggest it is not a cure:

False claim: Vitamin C cures the new coronavirus
https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-fact ... SKCN21X2PV

Posts on social media claim that Vitamin C alone is an effective cure or treatment of COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus. Examples – including some referring to the recovery of an elderly lady in China, and others promoting fruits such as oranges that are high in Vitamin C - can be seen here , here , here , and here .

Vitamin C, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) “plays an important role in immune function” (here).

However, it is false to suggest that Vitamin C is a widely approved treatment or cure for COVID-19. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “No specific treatment for COVID-19 is currently FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved” ( here ).

A World Health Organization (WHO) document prescribes several methods for trained healthcare professionals to use in managing severe cases of COVID-19 ( bit.ly/2VxMu9B ). These include oxygen therapy and monitoring, the treatment of co-infections with empiric antimicrobials, endotracheal intubation in cases of acute respiratory distress syndrome, and resuscitation from septic shock using crystalloid fluid. As of mid-April, the guide does not mention use of Vitamin C.

Guidelines on inpatient management from the Infectious Diseases Society of America can be found here . These also do not mention treatment with vitamins.

As reported by Newsweek, “patients testing positive with COVID-19 were in some cases being treated with large doses of vitamin C” in the intensive care units of certain New York hospitals ( here ). However, the article said, “the effectiveness of intravenous vitamin C as a treatment for—or buffer against—COVID-19 is not established with solid clinical evidence.”

Healthline reports, “No supplement will cure or prevent disease […] it’s especially important to understand that no supplement, diet, or other lifestyle modification other than physical distancing, also known as social distancing, and proper hygiene practices can protect you from COVID-19.” ( here )

There is currently a clinical trial ( here ) under way in Wuhan, China to determine the potential benefit of Vitamin C on patients with COVID-19, but results have not yet been published.

On March 28, The South China Morning Post reported a Wuhan doctor saying: “We still don’t know whether this helps [their] recovery – this needs a lot of research” when asked about efforts to treat severely ill patients with intravenous Vitamin C, along with other medicines ( here ).

While the immune-boosting properties of Vitamin C might help people’s bodies respond to infections and illness, to claim Vitamin C alone can cure or treat COVID-19 is medically unfounded. Studies on its effect on respiratory infections similar to COVID-19 are still under way.

VERDICT:
False: Although some COVID-19 patients are reported to have been given large doses of Vitamin C, it is not a proven treatment or cure for the disease

More:

Vitamin C deployed in big doses to help treat coronavirus patients https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society ... s-patients

Hospitals in the United States and China administer the supplement as part of a therapy for people with Covid-19. But there’s no evidence yet that it is effective and more research needs to be done, expert say.

Professor Liu Shi of Wuhan Union Hospital, said the medical centre, which has a large number of Covid-19 patients with severe symptoms, had also tried the therapy. “It was also administered to the patients intravenously, along with other drugs, because they are all seriously ill,” she said. “We still don’t know whether this helps [their] recovery – this needs a lot of research,” she said, adding that unlike vitamins A and D, Vitamin C is not toxic even if consumed in high doses because it is water soluble and therefore can be excreted easily.

Professor Yang Jinkui, from Beijing Tongren Hospital, said there was no scientific evidence to support the use of Vitamin C and any suggestion that it could be an effective cure was “completely groundless”. “In my understanding, it may be serving as a placebo as there is no special drug for this new disease yet. Sometimes it is deception with good intentions,” Yang said.

Wang Xiaogang, a doctor at Beijing Hospital, who has treated seriously ill coronavirus patients in Wuhan, agreed that there was no clinical evidence to prove that Vitamin C really helped. “This is meaningless,” Wang said.

Nonsense like this in rather large volume here limits my desire to post on this forum.
Politically motivated drivel without a shred of evidence- in fact, completely contrary to scientific reports,

As the above two posters indicate, you're trolling with this nonsense and it's not helpful to genuine discussion going forward. Suggest you back off or some time off is in order.
