Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Ironman advises caution and vigilance and it's a 24 hour a day operation now. The hotline number however is not given

From his FB page and translated by Khmer Times

"Prime Minister HE today cautioned the public to be on the alert for the new strain of coronavirus, which is currently spreading in China and other countries although it has not been detected in the Kingdom yet.

He said on his official Facebook page that the Novel Coronavirus first detected in China has now spread to other countries including the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Nepal, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.

Mr HE urged the public to be cautious, protect their own health and to prevent any spread of the disease.

“While the citizens are enjoying the Lunar New Year, please take part in preventing the new respiratory tract infection known as Novel Coronavirus, which is spreading in China and now in some countries. This coronavirus has not been detected in Cambodia so far,” he said.

He also advised relevant ministries, departments and institutions to have officials on 24-hour standby to receive calls made to the hotline."

We may as well accept there is too much money involved in this issues and all we can do as individuals is protect ourselves and our families, get a decent mask ( 3M or N95) and ride it out, some will disagree and that's fine, everyone to their own.

I would guess that the virus or carriers are already in Cambodia, just no one has been diagnosed with the symptoms.

If it starts to spread in Cambodia it could become one of the worse affected places in the world given the quality of the medical system and the habits of many people.

I hope I am proven wrong.

It's looking that way...

Surprised it's NOT here - but the incubation period is 2 weeks.

I've just seen some BBC footage from inside Wuhan and it's a ghost town - everything shuttered up.

The people are inside and not coming out as per the Government instructions.

2 weeks of 'stay home' and 'Bring Out Your Dead' is the policy.

Cambodia is starting to look a little isolated.

I find those measures by Northbridge way over the top. Just to showcase that they 'care' or something, because the 'measures' taken (temperature checks and hands washing) will not be sufficient to curb this virus (or any virus for that matter).

There's absolutely no need for panic. To be honest, I had hoped there would be, because it's about time the world population is decimated. Unfortunately, by the looks of it this virus isn't going to cut that, either. :stir:

Oh well, waiting again for the big one.

Just because it isn't reported as being detected in Cambodia, does not mean that it isn't here (or that it hasn't been here for a while).

It seems rather implausible given the number of Chinese coming in and out of Cambodia DAILY that there are exactly ZERO cases of Coronavirus in the Kingdom of Wonder.

I wouldn't agree, I think it's a reasonable response to put measures into effect to stem the spread of the virus. There are huge numbers of students at many of the larger schools and it seems appropriate to at least spend some extra effort on sanitizing the environment.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
