Some major businesses in the Seattle area, where researchers say the virus may have circulated undetected for weeks, have shut down some operations or urged employees to work from home.
What wold be the odds the same has been going on in Cambodia?
Don’t think anyone would give odds on that, it’s pretty near certain.

Watched a video from John Campbell (a retired British GP) this morning on YouTube. Pretty informative (recommended) but he pleaded to change from a reactive to a pro active approach.

Since there is no such thing as an approach in Cambodia (beside maybe the Ostrich / Ironman banned the virus approach) it made me think quite a bit because I will have to set up my own approach, especially for my kid.

I'm not saying "don't worry about corona virus", but let's keep things in perspective. How many people here were as worried about the dengue epidemic last year ?
However, dengue is particularly virulant for young children and babies, while the coronavirus is apparently mostly dangerous to elderly people who are not in good health. Very few people under the age of 50, who did not have a pre-existing health condition, have died outside of China. (No links but you can look it up.)
Cambodia reports dramatic increase in dengue in 2019
by News Desk
October 19, 2019
Many countries in southeast Asia are reporting increases in dengue fever in 2019 and Cambodia is no exception.
Through the end of September, some 56,000 dengue fever cases have been reported. This is eight times the number of cases reported during the same period in 2018 (7,000).

WHO notes the incidence of dengue has grown dramatically around the world in recent decades. A vast majority of cases are asymptomatic and hence the actual numbers of dengue cases are underreported and many cases are misclassified.

I were.... Cambodia was as reckless then as they are now.

I recall having a very strong 'chat' with the teacher because she refused to run the fans in the open air classroom during the dengue outbreak last year to save a few bucks on the electricity bill.

Australia's toilet paper crisis:

'It isn't Mad Max': Police warning after shoppers brawl over toilet paper in Sydney
Police called to a western Sydney supermarket on Saturday over reports of a physical altercation

NSW police had to be called to a western Sydney supermarket on Saturday morning after a fight broke out among three women over toilet paper.

On Saturday afternoon NSW police asked the women involved to come forward, and warned shoppers to behave themselves.

“We just ask that people don’t panic like this when they go out shopping,” NSW police acting inspector Andrew New said. “There is no need for it. It isn’t the Thunderdome, it isn’t Mad Max, we don’t need to do that.

“Violence of this nature will not be tolerated and anyone involved in this behaviour may be committing an offence and find themselves before the court.

“There is no need for people to go out and panic buy at supermarkets, paracetamol and canned food or toilet paper.”

Police said they were called to a Woolworths store at Chullora about 7am after reports a 49-year-old woman had been assaulted.

A video of the incident was shared on social media and showed a small group of women pushing, yelling and fighting over a shopping cart filled with toilet paper.

With the size of the average Australian women's arse that toilet paper won't last long anyway. I wonder what they will do when they eventually run out.
Who let all of this riff-raff into the room?

Four People Quarantined, 40 Others Trailed for Medical Checkups
Phnom Penh, March 05, 2020 --
Four people have been quarantined for 14 days and 40 others have been medically checked, according to the Ministry of Health.

The four people have been found to have close contacts with a Japanese national who has been reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 after departed from Siem Reap province to Japan’s Nagoya, with a transit in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City.

The ministry’s Spokesman H.E. Ly Sovann said that the four men are now put under quarantine in the Siem Reap provincial referral hospital, while other 40 people, who had indirect contacts with the Japanese man, have been trailed for medical checkups.

The move was taken after the Japanese man, who had travelled to the Philippines and Vietnam, was tested positive for the deadly virus after arriving in Nagoya.

As of Mar. 5, Cambodia has no new confirmed case of Covid-19 after a 60-year-old Chinese man, tested positive in late January, has fully recovered and returned to his home country.
