Following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak - News and Discussion
Re: Outbreak of Unidentified Coronavirus In China as New Year Approaches
It’s a major clusterfuck. In Wuhan there are over 18 hospitals, and those are not able to treat 1.000 cases of this infection. That’s 60 people per hospital. I don’t believe any of the official statistics.
Re: Outbreak of Unidentified Coronavirus In China as New Year Approaches
Agreed - Epic clusterfuck
There are 13,967 confirmed by the Chinese in quarantine as of yesterday. That's the problem. The suspected cases far outweigh the confirmed.
Trouble is - everyone goes to hospital and if you don't have it you soon will...
Even a doctor treating it passed away.

No need to quarantine people in hospitals, they can use schools, sports halls etc for that.... the hospitals aren’t overloaded with people in quarantine.Mishmash wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 7:14 pmThere are 13,967 confirmed by the Chinese in quarantine as of yesterday. The virus does not just manifest itself with a cough and difficulty breathing, apparently, some have no fever, joint pains, and diarrhea. If one has no fever then the screening of passengers of incoming Chinese tourists by body temperature is ineffective.
New coronavirus can cause infections with no symptoms and sicken otherwise healthy people, studies show

Not if but when this hits Cambodia I hope they contain it. Imagine here with the hospitals we have how much chaos would ensue

You know the Great Firewall.
It's a fantastic effort by the Chinese and I think this time they are being truthful, unlike SARS.

Here's a nurse from Wuhan.

They are seriously dropping dead in the streets.
There are many videos - streets, car parks, malls, shops.
Mind blowing.

Update - US is evacuating China - citizens also.
U.S. to evacuate its citizens from Wuhan, China - WSJ
(Reuters) - The United States is arranging a charter flight on Sunday to bring its citizens and diplomats back from the Chinese city of Wuhan, epicentre of the outbreak of a new coronavirus, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.
The plane, with around 230 people, will carry diplomats from the U.S. consulate as well as U.S. citizens and their families, the Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the operation.
Washington was given approval for the operation from China’s Foreign Ministry and other government agencies following negotiations in recent days, the newspaper said.
The decision to move U.S. consulate staff and families was due to the outbreak of the coronavirus “and logistical disruptions stemming from restricted transportation and overwhelmed hospitals in the city of Wuhan,” the spokesperson said in a statement emailed to Reuters.
