Me thinks that outside in the sun would be the safest place if the virus is killed off by ultraviolet light or direct rays of sunshine. ?

Factories file for suspension, 3,000 workers to be affected in Cambodia
Published 29 February 2020
by Long Kimmarita

PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/ANN) - Ministry spokesman Heng Sour said 10 factories have already run out of raw materials as suppliers in China have closed due to Covid-19 infections.

At least 10 factories have filed for temporary suspension as the supply of raw materials from China dries up, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training said on Thursday. This could affect the livelihoods of as many as 3,000 workers.

Speaking during a press conference at the Office of the Council of Ministers, ministry spokesman Heng Sour said 10 factories have already run out of raw materials as suppliers in China have closed due to Covid-19 infections.

He warned that the worst was yet to come.

“In March, we could see as many as 200 factories and enterprises running out of raw materials. The worst-case scenario is that about 160,000 workers will be affected,” Sour said.

The ministry has come up with a scheme that guarantees suspended workers receive at least 60 per cent of the minimum wage.

As per the scheme, employers are required to pay suspended workers 40 per cent of the minimum wage, with the remaining 20 per cent shouldered by the government.

Besides, the ministry has prepared a series of trainings to help suspended workers access new work opportunities.

“The government is making every effort to restore relations with buyers, factories and other governments.

“We are working to end the shortage of raw materials as quickly as possible, including by negotiating with China so that it gives priority to Cambodia in the supply of raw materials,” Sour said.

Yea,right,when pigs fly.

new work opportunity ? as what?? tuk tuk drivers?

This could devastate the Cambodian economy if this many workers are not workng and the Chinese are going or already gone.
Plus add in the reduction of ticket sales and the price at Angkor wat (the only real tourist earner in the country).

Hate to see if this continues for another 2-3 months throughout Asia
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

This assumes the company can pay the 40% and for how long? After all, no clothes being made.. hence no sales/income..

The virus is inside your body so sunbathing is no use, best to stay at home and shove a UV torch up your ass

Coronavirus: Trump expands travel restrictions after US reports its first death from disease

Governor Jay Inslee of Washington state confirmed the first death on Saturday
‘Do not travel’ warning issued for areas of Italy and South Korea that have active Covid-19 cases

The US reported on Saturday its first death from Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

The death of the patient, in Washington state, follows confirmation by US health authorities of the first “community spread” Covid-19 cases in the US, meaning confirmed cases in individuals who have not recently travelled to countries hit by the illness or with known contact with a person known by health authorities to be infected. Two such cases were confirmed in California and one in Oregon.

Washington state’s governor Jay Inslee declared an emergency that directs all state agencies “to use all resources necessary to prepare for and respond to the outbreak”.

US President Donald Trump, who discussed the latest coronavirus developments in a White House press briefing on Saturday afternoon, said the person who died was a woman in her “late 50s”, who was a “medically high-risk patient”.

She was high risk because she got really ill of this virus, or she was high risk because of serious underlying conditions? According to recent statistics the chance of dying of the virus in the age group 50-60 is less than 1%. What are the odds? Another patient drew the wrong card.

You've got the love the semantics of the politicians.
