Following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak - News and Discussion

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

I took a test for Corona virus and the CDC US informed the manager of my apartment who then called my employer and the broker that found me the place and very next thing, I was given a week to move out and I was terminated immediately. True, I had already given notice and I was glad to be fleeing a shithole but so what?
So the test confirmed you had the corona virus?

Coz I'm wondering whether you are in fact fleeing a shithole or pissed off that the authorities terminated your employment and tenancy?

At the risk of being kicked out, but this nonsense by BrazilBoy needs to be tackled. In the other threat about his so-called Corona symptoms he wrote (I'm now copy and pasting from a post by me that was removed by the Admin, because I was 'character assassinating' BrazilBoy):

I called in sick for tomorrow, explaining that I have symptoms of the corona virus and that I'd just been tested at the CDC. So the deputy head of my school shows up at 10:30 pm with the manager of the apartment

In other words, the story changes as BrazilToddler is claiming it was the CDC who informed his employer. No, he did that totally by himself. And the head of the school took his measures...

And by the way there is no CDC testing clinic in Cambodia; the thing he was referring to is an office in Toul Kork, it's nowhere near a clinic.

Advice to BrazilBoy: if you make up stories, check what you wrote before for inconsistencies. Just saying...

I wonder when the Admins will finally have had enough of this joker.

Purely anecdotal, but I work with a large number of people every week and haven't noticed any increase in Colds/Flu/etc. There are also many Chinese owned businesses in the same building. Perhaps we'll all be sick as dogs after the incubation period. It seems to be more affecting those folk who live in temperate climes. The south will rise again. And I agree, this Brazilboy is no use on here, he's just trolling and has nothing positive to say about anyone except himself. Wax him. 8-)

Fair point and what I thought when i wrote this post is that the school called the apartment manager because I said I was being tested for the virus. It never occurred to me that the CDC would, so I just assumed it was the school. I then found out that it was the apartment that called both my school and the broker that found me the apartment.

So who told the apartment manager? It only leaves the CDC because they took my address when I took the test.Westview International School is the worst school I ever worked at, but they didn’t break confidently; the CDC did that.

Hope that clears things up for ya, frizziedick.

unlikely

though i have no doubt at all that the royal government of cambodia will cover up any cases to their greatest ability
^Quite agree. There is a lack of confidence in the authorities. As a result, rumours flourish because there is no reliable information.

IMO anyone who posts here that they, or members of their families, their school, their church, or whatever, has the coronavirus should provide some concrete information. You don't have to out yourself, but if you have been diagnosed positive and you want to warn people about it, there has to be some substance to your allegations. Any nutter or troll can spread alarm. Cambodia thrives on social media rumours as you all know. Between the alarmists and the denialists, for the moment we have no reliable information either way.
Given the open border policy in cambodia, it would be strange that there are no cases of coronavirus here at all, but internet rumours do more harm than good.
So yes, nix the trolls.

I had never even heard of that place. Looking at their site might have given you a clue about their standards. They use a stock image with a watermark on this page https://westview.edu.kh/curriculum/overview/ and the description of their secondary program is laughable. https://westview.edu.kh/admission/secondary-program/

Maybe do some research before you take a job, just a suggestion? :?

"China’s leaders have launched an immediate ban on selling and eating wild animals"
Bit late for that one but even with the countermeasures put in place by wealthy countries this is spreading fast. Maybe we just have to accept it and do our best to protect ourselves and our families.

Coronavirus could kill half a million Britons and infect 80% of UK, leaked document suggests.

Fuck knows what the outcome would be here ......

Thanks for reposting that. Excellent. It would be a hit in Khmer.
