Obesity!

Post by kennzo »

Interesting article in the Lancet shown on BBC News today:

More than half of the world's 671 million obese people live in 10 countries, ranked in order:

• US
• China
• India
• Russia
• Brazil
• Mexico
• Egypt
• Germany
• Pakistan
• Indonesia

With about eight of those countries also being the most populated in the world, I guess they're not much of a surprise. Germany and Egypt seem to be eating above their weight a little, though.

Edited to swap Pakistan with Egypt which was what I meant to write.

The idea that seeing the world is going from place to place to look at obvious things is an illusion natural to dull minds.

TOP 10 countries by population:

1 China 1,364,710,000
2 India 1,244,690,000
3 United States 318,121,000
4 Indonesia 247,424,598
5 Brazil 202,626,000
6 Pakistan 186,582,000
7 Nigeria 173,615,000
8 Bangladesh 152,518,015
9 Russia 143,700,000
10 Japan 127,100,000

Your point is valid, but the Japanese are doing well.

If it were an expat obesity list I imagine the scales would be tipped to favor Cambodia considerably.

Why isn't New Zealand on that list?

They made the news today.
