Nude photos in the Forbidden City cause outrage

A photographer has sparked outrage in China after he took photos of a naked model in the country’s Forbidden City in Beijing and posted them online.

Photographer Wang Dong took the pictures at the former imperial palace in Beijing while tourists roamed the Palace Museum, before posting them onto Chinese social networking site Sina Weibo and other blogging sites.

One of the images showed a naked woman straddling the head of a hornless dragon statue at the foot of the steps of the palace, while another showed a woman leaning onto an ancient wall with the underneath of her skirt exposed while tourists stood in the background. He told The Beijing News that “I was only doing my work and did not affect anyone,” the South China Morning Post reported.

Why the emphasis on hornless dragons? I can imagine horns are worthy of being mentioned, should the dragon have them, but to make a point of describing the lack of them seems strange. Trying to squeeze in more euphemisms?

I'm utterly disgusted. I think having pole-dancers at funerals is fine though.

Before anyone tries to pull me up, I'm quite aware that the footage is from the break-away region of Taiwan. Same-as.

I don't really get why anyone cares. The Forbidden City is the site of atrocity after atrocity and a fair amount of kink and perversion to boot. The same is probably true of any ancient site. If you catch someone playing silly buggers during the attempt - they've probably actually offended somebody (though there's a good argument to say - who cares?) but after the fact? People have to work to be offended in that instance...
